The Traitors viewers can’t get enough of Claudia’s Scottish style and how to get her look for a fraction of the price

AS countryside chic takes over this winter, Claudia Winkleman is nailing the aesthetic on the second season of hit show The Traitors.

ABBY MCHALE reveals how much her highland fling costs, and finds high street alternatives so you too can join the tartan army …

Millions are tuning into BBC show The Traitors – hooked on the moody game show filmed in the equally dramatic Scottish Highlands.

However, it’s not just the double-crossing, back-stabbing contestants catching the attention of viewers – it’s Claudia Winkleman’s Scottish themed designer outfits.

“Every single outfit in the first three episodes was sublime,” said one Instagram user. Another wrote: “Can you please tell us where all of your amazing clothes come from.”

Another said: “You were so born for tweed and green and wellies – who knew?”

While fellow presenter Dermot O’Learly simply wrote: “The outfits…”

Yes, the 51-year-old presenter has ditched her Strictly sparkles and replaced them with a wardrobe of tartan, tweed and wellies.

While it might not sound like the height of fashion, the presenter is right on trend.

Earlier this month, British outwear brand Barbour reported record sales of £343 million – up a huge 20 per cent. And recently the brand, popular amongst farmers, outdoorsy folk and the late Queen, has collaborated with top designers Ganni, Erderm and Gucci.

Meanwhile, Gen Z are loving retro Barbour on TikTok and a £69.90 Uniqlo dupe of a Barbour waxed jacket has had over 19.8million views on the social media platform.

Similarly ‘Grandpa’ fashion is becoming a big trend – think sweater vests and tweed blazers.

While Claudia’s luxury looks in The Traitors come with a hefty price tag – so far totalling up to £9,075, and we’re only six episodes in, the high street is filled with similar pieces.

The long check coat:

Claudia’s check coat from Holland Cooper costs £749BBC

Nothing screams the Scottish Highlands more than a bit of tartan.

This floor length green and blue check coat from British brand Holland Cooper certainly makes Claudia look the part.

It costs a mere £749. While her argyle knit from Purdey London, now sold out, was £595.

The fingerless glove – a Claudia classic from season 1 – gives a nod to this year’s ‘grandpacore’ trend.

Keeping the rest of her look simple with black skinny jeans, wellies and knee high socks Claudia’s certainly braced herself for the weather.

The smiley jumper:

Adding a touch of playfulness to this look, Claudia’s £580 jumper from Japanese menswear brand Kapital may look the epitome of classic wool knit, until you see the sleeves with big yellow smiley faces on the elbows.

She is also wearing a tartan mohair kilt from Scottish brand Brora for £259 and a pair of black Dr Martens Chelsea boots, £219.

Fans  have gone wild for this particular outfit, with comments left saying: “…this jumper is everything” and “my wife said (about 10 times during the ep) ‘I want that jumper’.”

Check trousers:

BBCSteal Claudia’s style with a pair of wellies for just £29.99[/caption]

Keeping with the earthy palette seen throughout her looks, in an episode which aired last week Claudia is seen mixing different prints.

She wore a pair of check trousers from British brand Cordings, £125, and another piece from Brora – this time a striped cashmere jumper, £185.

Her khaki cashmere coat from Parisian brand Officine Generale would set you back £1,320, but luckily there are lots of high street versions from the likes of Primark for £40.

Wellies are also a must in the countryside and whilst Claudia’s are £125 from Hunter, Shoezone has some similar for just £29.99.

Tweed blazer:

Tonight’s episode sees Claudia carrying on her check theme with a blazer from Tweed specialist Walter Slater, costing £325.

She really is dressed for her surroundings – this time she even matches the wallpaper.

Checks reigned supreme on the catwalks for AW23. Top designers such as Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and of course Burberry, infamous for its checks, all showed that countryside chic was making a comeback.

Claudia has added a blouse from British designer Anna Mason and a pair of Commando leggings for £89.

Trench coat:

BBCClaudia’s Burberry coat will set you back £1,890[/caption]

Claudia sported a smart looking Burberry trench coat on last night’s episode, it unsurprisingly doesn’t come cheap at £1,890.

However, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives, F&F for example have one for £45. And the  classic trench is never going out of style – it’s a great staple for everyone’s wardrobe.

Layering this look Claudia also wears a cardigan from celebrity favourite The Row, a Me+Em shirt, £295, Dubarry of Ireland jeans £129 and £940 boots from Church’s.

Claudia’s stylist Sinead McKeefry seems for the most part to have stuck to brands within the British Isles, keeping with the quintessential countryside theme.

Grey coat:

BBCBang on trend this long grey coat retails for £1,250[/caption]

Friday night’s episode see’s the contestants on a night time challenge and you can rest assured Claudia has dressed for the occasion.

Wearing a long grey Bella Freud coat retailing at £1,250, she kept her hands warm in another pair of fingerless gloves to go with her tailored outfit.

Grey is the new black this year and whilst you may think it’s a boring colour, a smart and fuss free coat like Claudia’s can smarten up any outfit – a wardrobe must have.

As versatile as it is chic, you can wear it year after year and it won’t date.
