Dara Ó Briain has warned fans to avoid buying tickets from fake sites after some people got fooled despite a whopping error.

The former Mock The Week host is preparing to embark on a tour of the United States, but one ticket resale site has caught his attention with a very awkward photo choice.

Instead of using a picture of Dara himself, EventsTicketCentre are advertising the dates using a picture of… another bald man with a microphone.

Besides the lack of hair, there really isn’t a resemblance between the two, and Dara saw the funny side as he urged fans to go through official channels for their tickets.

He wrote: ‘Hey, events Ticket Centre! No idea who you are, reselling my tickets, but I feel you don’t know who I am either, judging by the photo. Probably best people just go to http://daraobriain.com for ticket details…’

He later quipped: ‘Reposting this for those who didn’t see it late last night. Warning: if you buy my tickets from a resell site, this is the guy who will turn up and do the show.’

Not surprisingly, X users are having a bit of a field day with the mix-up, and they couldn’t help but poke fun at the situation.

‘When you order Dara Ó Briain from Wish and get Brian O Dara 😂😂,’ laughed @DavidStow9, while fan @MOshea16 quipped: ‘We have Dara at home.’

Fan @WayneReardon thought it sounded like something straight off Mock The Week, as they wrote: ‘This feels like something we’d see on Mock The Week.

‘There used to be a great YouTube video titled something like “Dara being made fun of for who he looks like”. It’s gone now, but it was one of the funniest videos on YouTube.’

Others admitted they had bought tickets from the site in question and noted they would learn from the future, as the 51-year-old comedian replied: ‘Ah. I hope there isn’t a problem.

‘I don’t know this site at all. In general, it’s always best to go to the venue first. But hopefully we’ll see you there!’

And one fan – who confessed they were being very ‘cheeky’ – decided to put the ‘don’t ask, don’t get’ mantra to the test by asking for some free tickets.

‘Nope,’ Dara responded. ‘Sometimes you ask, and you still don’t get. Hope I see you at the show anyway!’
