For me, M&S activewear is a cut above the rest.
As someone who considers exercise a walk to the coffee shop to buy a cinnamon bun, when it comes to athleisure wear, I want my clothes to be multifunctional.
Marks & Spencer’s GOODMOVE range is its newest brand and one of its most successful. Since its launch in 2020, it’s become the market leader for women’s activewear, and it’s easy to see why.
The pieces have all the technology you’d expect, such as moisture-wicking and breathable fabrics, plus M&S’s in-house tech, Stormwear – a technology that helps keep out the rain. While padding, adjustable hoods and high necks mean you’ll stay cosy on cooler days. And the collection is full of pieces you’d wear outside of the gym.
For example this Borg cardi-jacket is something I would wear to work with a pair of straight-leg jeans and boots, and I’d style these burgundy leggings with an oversized blazer and boots for a night out.
The sculpting leggings have an extra-high waistband for comfort and for creating a waist which I usually don’t have, as well as having clever seams on the top of your bum which gives it a fuller look. Win-win.
This sports bra is also insanely comfortable to wear and keeps your girls in place whether you’re running on the treadmill or running for the bus.

After a week in the office, I love nothing more than pulling on some athleisure at the weekend. It seamlessly takes me from a dog walk to the gym and on to the sofa for a cheeky Saturday afternoon snooze. Any outfit that is outdoorsy, functional AND comfy always gets my vote.
I love the oversized logo on this F&F hoodie which has a real designer feel, and which I can safely say is definitely ‘hoodie-ing’… If you have a teenager you will get exactly what I mean!
Black leggings are a no-brainer at this time of year – I live in them. Add in a baseball cap to keep out the winter sun and a cross-body bag that can fit dog treats, your water bottle and keys, and that’s my Saturday is sorted.
And F&F have 20% off all athleisure this weekend!

Top, £15, Tu at Sainsbury’s – BUY NOW
Bag, £18, Tu at Sainsbury’s – BUY NOW
Trainers, £16, Tu at Sainsbury’s – BUY NOW
As cliched as it sounds, I’m fully on board with the January fitness hype.
And what makes you feel more put-together than a matching set of gymwear? This set from Tu at Sainsbury’s comes in at just under £30.
I love the subtle navy print of the top and bottoms, as it gives a little hint of colour but is still dark, which is what I prefer my gym kit to be.
Tu has loads of good options on activewear and accessories, like this big squashy bag big enough to fit all your kit for £18, plus this baseball cap at only £7 will be my saving grace when I’m leaving the gym with greasy hair!
And if you don’t want to spend a fortune on some trainers, then this pair are an absolute bargain at just £16.

Trainers, £160, New Balance – BUY NOW
I am totally not a frequent gymgoer, but I am completely obsessed with gymwear and partial to wearing a coordinating set for any activity.
For me, it’s all about comfort, style and affordability, and George has really hit the nail on the head with three big ticks this year.
The value for money on these leggings is unbeatable. I always look out for slip pockets on my activewear so I have somewhere to store my phone, and the contrast stitch makes this burgundy pair look super-expensive. I’ll definitely be buying the matching hoodie, as I’m not big on baring my stomach and wearing a sports bras alone.
I love to wear thick ribbed white socks pulled over my leggings (like Marmite, you either love or hate the look!). I prefer to buy unbranded socks as it means I can wear them with a variety of trainer labels, so a five-pack from George is ideal.
These New Balance are definitely a big purchase that I have been considering for a while now. The colours match perfectly with the leggings and hoodie – which is an athleisure must for me. I can feel a splurge coming on…!
