Chaos erupts as Rat’s shocking identity is revealed on Masked Singer-Danni Scott-Entertainment – Metro

The Masked Singer has been baffling viewers with the identity of Rat since the beginning with a slew of clues leading up to one major reveal tonight.

In a very special Circus themed episode of the already bonkers ITV show, taking to the stage were Bigfoot, Cricket, Dippy Egg, Maypole, and Rat.

Speculation around Maypole’s identity was ramped up by the fact the Poison singer was nowhere to be seen as Olly Murs appeared as a special guest.

This week’s musical extravaganza saw Rat and Dippy Egg on the chopping block while Maypole, Bigfoot, and Cricket sailed through to sing again.

As Rat burst into their rendition of The Village People’s YMCA, Dippy Eggs opted for Shotgun by George Ezra but only one could survive the unmasking.

Sadly the show won’t go on for Rat, as the furry animal was unmasked – unbelievably revealed to be Shirley Ballas.

Her accents had been throwing off the judges and she said she was ‘so flattered’ by the names being thrown out.

Mo said that her ‘movements were very good’ when the dancing legend was reveal and explained the ‘danger’ clue was because she climbed Kilimanjaro.

The biggest shock of the night wasn’t even the big reveal, it was actually that Shirley is covered in tattoos.

Jaws dropped as Olly asked about the tattoo clue – turns out the head Strictly judge has ink all over her backside.

Joel joked it was Anton du Beke’s face permanently on her body, who she revealed asks her to show them to her all the time, although it’s not the fellow judge’s face.

‘No waaay! Didnt expect that,’ wrote viewer Bex on X after the reveal, as Kelly Muggs added: ‘Well @ShirleyBallas dressed as a rat singing Nelly The Elephant was NOT on my 2024 bingo card.’

Mel C and Claire Sweeney were among the celebrities named for Rat, as well as Kerry Katona, Jodie Whitaker, and Jodie Comer.

Last week saw Pointless host Alexander Armstrong unmasked from underneath the iconic Chicken Caesar costume, having performed a glorious rendition of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Under The Bridge.

Fans were in utter shock when the first out in week one was none other than legendary singer Dionne Warwick as the fantastic Weather.

Previous winners of the show include the likes of Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts, Joss Stone, Natalie Imbruglia and previous guest panelist Charlie Simpson.

People think they may have sussed some costumes already with rumours whirring about this years batch of celebrities.

It is thought surviving Dippy Egg could be either Matt Lucas or Gregg Wallace with food-related costumes.

Maypole is largely suspected to be Rita but also singer Anne-Marie, as suggested by panelist Davina, or maybe tennis player Emma Raducanu after several tennis clues.

Theories about who Cricket is are Levi Roots, Lemar, Stuart Broad, or David Gower.

Big Foot is thought to be either Ray Mears for the nature-focused clues, Bradley Walsh, Hugh Laurie, or Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed.

Of course tonight’s singers aren’t the only ones in the game as Owl, Eiffel Tower, Bubble Tea Piranha, and Air Fryer are all singing their hearts out too.

Lauren Laverne also appeared to make an almighty blunder live on TV, when she said: ‘A former Doctor Who will be making an appearance on The Masked Singer this season.’

The conversation moved on very quickly with no reference made to Lauren’s comment. Though, perhaps it was nothing…

The Masked Singer airs on Saturdays at 7pm on ITV, catch up on ITVX.
