She is now understood to be facing a fine after allegedly being caught speeding on the A270, on a road with a 30mph speed limit.
Gemma was apparently caught by an automatic camera and has been fined by Brighton magistrates.
The fine is said to be around £100, according to the Daily Mail – which shouldn’t break the bank for the actress, whose home in Brighton is believed to be worth almost £2 million.
She is a celebrated actress, having been nominated for multiple Olivier awards for her work on Made in Dagenham and Nell Gwynn, and winning the Bafta rising star award in 2011.

Last year she starred as the lead in comedy drama series Funny Girl, based on the novel by Nick Hornby.
It follows a 1960s Blackpool beauty queen, played by Gemma, who becomes a comedy star in the male-dominated industry.
Funny Girl has been renewed for a second season, meaning Gemma will be returning to screens very soon.
Gemma, who has also starred in St Trinian’s, has been married to Irish actor and Peaky Blinders star Rory Keenan since 2019, and the pair welcomed their first child, a son, together in 2022.

Prior to meeting Rory, Gemma had been married to fashion consultant Stefano Catelli for four years, before the pair divorced in 2014.
The actress, who rarely shares details about her private life, had spoken about her future plans to have children in 2013, telling The Times: ‘I don’t think you can ever plan the right, exact time.
‘I don’t feel ready for kids because I want to know that I can come back and still be valuable to the industry.
‘That’s only going to happen when I feel a little bit more accomplished… or at least when I’ve accomplished something of which I’m proud.’
