Harrison Ford and Robert De Niro could not cringe any harder as they were branded ‘hot’ older men by Chelsea Handler at last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards.

The Hollywood icons, who are both more than 30 years her senior, were labelled ‘smoke shows’ by the stand-up comedian and writer, 48.

During her opening monologue, both Indiana Jones star Ford, 81, and Killers of the Flower Moon actor De Niro, 80, looked like they would rather be anywhere else as the comedian joked she preferred men who have ‘been alive since the railway was invented.’

De Niro covered his mouth while appearing displeased, while Ford blinked and shook his head as Handler’s awkward jokes continued as she said they had both been ‘hot for decades’ and ‘just keep getting hotter.’

‘I know you’re both spoken for, so I’m not hitting on you. But I am hitting on you,’ she told the actors, before confessing to Ford that he had been ‘revving her hormones up’ since hitting ‘puberty at the age of eight.’

As Chelsea mentioned, both screen icons are taken men with Ford married to Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart, and De Niro recently welcoming another baby with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.

Viewers were quick to take to social media to share their shock over the ‘awkward’ racy routine.

@pelicinema wrote on X: ‘Chelsea handler saying “i prefer my men hot and old” and then points out robert de niro and harrison ford who look like they would rather be anywhere but there 😭.’

@Pea430Mendoza added: ‘Robert De Niro was having NONE of Chelsea Handler’s monologue, but Harrison loved it #CriticsChoiceAwards.’

@canarysfilm joked: ‘Chelsea handler saying “i prefer my men hot and old” and then pointing at harrison ford 😭😭😭😭 she’s so real calista be careful they’re taking your man.’

@KingOfHotTopics also posted: ‘The way Harrison Ford cringed when Chelsea Handler said she has the hots for him — YIKES! #CriticsChoiceAwards.’

Despite an awkward beginning, Ford accepted the career achievement award and almost had the entire audience in tears with his emotional speech.

‘First of all, I’m really happy to be here and just see what our business is turning into,’ he began. ‘And all of the talented people who are getting opportunities that probably would not have existed in the early part of my career. I’m very happy about that.’

Reflecting on his career – which has included roles in Star Wars, Blade Runner, The Fugitive, and Witness – he said: ‘I’m here because of a combination of luck and the work of wonderful directors, writers and filmmakers. I feel enormously lucky.’

The acting icon went on to thank wife Calista, 59, praising her for ‘supporting him when he needs a lot of support.’

He then went on to pay tribute to his co-stars across the years, adding: ‘I’m grateful to all the fine actors … I’ve worked with and I’m deeply happy to have had the opportunities that I’ve had and I’m grateful,’ with the camera cutting to his Indiana Jones co-star Ke Huy Quan who was cheering him on.

Appearing bashful in the face of so much admiration, Ford signed off by saying: ‘I won’t take any more of your time’ before exiting the stage.
