Danny DeVito left estranged wife Rhea Perlman stunned after he name-dropped her while on stage at the Emmys.
The former couple tied the knot in January, 1982, after more than 10 years of dating, but eventually went their separate ways in 2017.
However, the couple – who starred together in Matilda – have remained close since their split, and have not filed for divorce to officially end their marriage.
The Twins actor proved that their bond is still going strong as he appeared on stage at the Emmys on Monday, beside his It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-stars.
The gang – also made up of Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson – were on hand to give out the trophy for outstanding talk series, when they joked about their own program never being nominated at the ceremony, despite being on air for 16 seasons.
Danny revealed that he had actually taken home an Emmy for his previous stint on Taxi, which racked up 34 nominations and 18 wins in five years.

Out of nowhere, he added: ‘Rhea won four for Cheers.’
The camera quickly panned across to his former partner, who couldn’t help but cackle at the random mention.
Fans watching on from home were overjoyed by the sweet scene and flocked to Twitter to unpack the footage.
‘Danny DeVito giving Rhea Perlman (his separated wife) a shout out for her 4 wins was not on my bingo card #Emmys2024 #Emmys,’ one joked.

A follower said: ‘That was sweet of Danny Devito to mention that Rhea had won 4 Emmys. I hate they’re not together anymore. #Emmys.’
Another agreed: ‘How cute is Danny Devito #Emmys #Emmys2024.’
‘“Rhea won 4 of ‘em.” -Danny DeVito. We love supportive exes. #Emmys,’ one added.
Danny and Rhea first met in January, 1971, and quickly became inseparable, moving in together very shortly after.

They eventually tied the knot in January, 1982, and went on to welcome three children together – Lucy, Grace and Jacob.
In 2012, they ended their relationship for the first time but managed to reconcile until 2017, when they called time on their marriage after more than 40 years together.
Despite their separation, they have remained very close and still continue to champion each other publicly.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Rhea unpacked their bond when a viewer questioned why she thought it was ‘so easy’ for them to remain friends when other exes struggle.
‘I don’t know why it’s difficult for other people, but Danny and I have always loved each other, and we have three amazing children together,’ she said. ‘We really agree on almost everything important.
‘We were together for 40 years. 40 years is a long time. You might have to do something else, that’s okay!’
When Andy Cohen asked if their relationship was better than it had been at the end of their marriage, she added: ‘Absolutely! It’s much better because all the tense stuff is gone, it’s not in your face. I’m not in his, he’s not in mine.
‘There was a hard transition through the kids but everybody is smoothed out. Everybody has got a good relationship with Danny, with me, with each other. That’s all we care about.’
