I’m ditching Primark it’s so expensive – you used to be able to get a whole bag of clothes for £50, now one item is £45
A DISGRUNTLED shopper was left unhappy after a recent trip to Primark, when the prices were much higher than she expected.
Demi-Lee Burns, shared her annoyance via a video posted to her TikTok channel, where she is known as @demileeburns.

The makeup artist often uses the account to highlight bargains and to share her makeup and skincare routine.
In one video, Demi-Lee showed viewers the prices of some clothes in Primark, including some items in popstar Rita Ora‘s new range.
The caption to her video read: “I’m sorry but when did Primark get so expensive!? Primark just isn’t Primarking like it used to.”
The TikToker showed viewers a fluffy pink coat priced at £45, a leather jacket also priced at £45 and a cream coat priced at £40.
In a comment posted under the video, the TikToker added: “I remember the days you came out of Primark with a bag full of clothes for £50 & the only bad thing was it getting wet and ripping in the rain”.
Some TikTok users pointed out in the comments section that many of the clothes Demi-Lee highlighted were from Rita Ora’s range, which is more expensive than basic Primark clothes.
However, responding to these comments, Demi-Lee said: “Yeah but it’s no better quality or designs than the rest of the stuff they sell!
“I saw some PJs for £23 that weren’t in the Rita Ora collection and I saw a blazer for £36.
“Everything’s pricier”.
In recent years, prices of goods like food and clothes have skyrocketed with inflation reaching a peak of 11.1% in October 2022.
Although, inflation has now thankfully dropped down to 3.9%, prices are still much higher than they were a few years ago.
Due to these rising costs, many shoppers can no longer afford shops like Primark, which were previously thought of as budget retailers.
Many people are instead choosing to shop at charity shops or on second hand online marketplaces such as Vinted and Depop instead.
Financial pressures in British homes saw sales of second-hand goods jump by 15% to £21 billion in 2022.
One in six people now say they buy used items, according to research commissioned by review site Trustpilot.
Demi-Lee’s video is sure to have left many open-mouthed, as it racked up an impressive 1.9 million views.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Demi-Lee’s video.
One upset user said: “Primark is supposed to be for us poor people. How am I supposed to get cute clothes now?”
Another user said: “I’m going to have to shop at Poundland now.”
