There are plenty of things you can expect to see at a glitzy awards showemotional speeches, elegant gowns and celebrities getting ready to let their hair down at the afterparty.

However, a ‘hell goblin’ lurking in the crowds, complete with green skin and pointy ears, definitely wasn’t on our Emmy Awards Bingo card.

If you spotted the eye-catching creature on screen – no, it wasn’t your sleep paralysis demon coming back to haunt you.

It was actually RuPaul’s Drag Race star Princess Poppy making a truly iconic appearance at the awards ceremony – and all we can say is all hail our new goblin queen, forever and always.

At one point, Princess Poppy could be seen on the TV broadcast behind Homeland star Claire Danes, who was wearing a timeless pink dress with her blonde hair in a perfectly-coiffed style.

The drag superstar joined the Drag Race family on stage as the TV show won the accolade for outstanding competition programme, adding to its plethora of awards over the years.

RuPaul gave a powerful speech on stage celebrating drag queens, stating: ‘Listen – if a drag queen wants to read you a story at a library, listen to her, because knowledge is power and if someone tries to restrict your access to power, they are trying to scare you, so listen to a drag queen. We love you, thank you.’

Drag Race fans couldn’t get enough of Princess Poppy’s standout look, which will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.

‘RuPaul telling people not to be scared of drag queens while Princess Poppy takes the Emmys stage as a literal hell goblin I am SCREAMING 💀,’ X user Joey wrote in amazement.

‘I’m SO HAPPY the viewers get to witness Princess Poppy on that #Emmys stage,’ Keith shared, posting a picture of the queen grinning with glee at the camera covered in prosthetics.

However, some who had no idea as to the identity of the person behind the makeup were simply baffled.

‘Does anyone have any intel about the goblin at the emmys,’ wrote Palmer on X, while Eli added: ‘I need to know about the beautiful green drag goblin on stage at the Emmys.’

‘Sorry is anyone gonna talk about the green goblin that was on the red carpet for the Emmy’s,’ a user going by the handle @mclemar questioned.

While walking the red carpet, Princess Poppy opened up about her inspiration behind the look.

‘I wanted to do the exact opposite of what is expected of you when you go to an event like this,’ she told EW. ‘I wanted to take decorum and turn it on its head.

‘Mainly I wanted to be a troll-slash-hag. I wanted to be so shocking that you just have to turn and look at me — in the worst way possible.’

Quite simply – a serve.
