Sara Ramirez has hinted they may have been axed from And Just Like That, while posting a lengthy message about the ongoing war in Palestine on Instagram.

The Grey’s Anatomy actor, 48, played Che Diaz in the Sex and the City spin-off, but it’s safe to say, fans weren’t too keen.

Critics of the programme labelled Che ‘cringy’ and ‘unhinged’, going so far as to brand them ‘the worst character on TV.’

And now Sara, who revealed they identify as non-binary in 2020, has called the role their ‘last’.

Taking to Instagram after sharing several pictures calling for a ceasefire amid the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel, Sara wrote: ‘Our industry is so duplicitous.

‘While they give awards away, casting directors and agents are making black lists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians and Gaza to ensure they will not work again.

‘While they lift up some of their own clients who have spoken up against this genocide, they are firing and letting others who have smaller platforms go.

‘While they award “lgbtq orgs”, they were are silent on those orgs ties to weapons manufacturers who are currently supporting the Israel military as it commits genocide on Palestinian lives that include LGBTQIA2S+ lives.

‘I get it. Awards are shiny and people need to pay their rent or feel special and powerful.

‘Meanwhile we are beyond the 100 day mark on this “war” that has been acknowledged by many, including the ICC, as a genocide.

‘It’s wild how performative so many in Hollywood are. Even more performative than the last character I played.’

According to IMDb, Che Diaz was Sara’s last character, who they played across 21 episodes in 2021 and 2023.

In a second post, Sara added: ‘I am so grateful for the people in my life who have helped me, and are still supporting me, in healing and getting free.

‘Thank you for helping me peel back the layers of conditioning, socialization and trauma.

‘Thank you for helping me take responsibility for my own humanity as I continue to lean into the discomfort of growth and change.

‘Thank you for not exploiting me and discarding me.

‘Thank you for calling me in and holding me close while I forge a path of empowerment and authenticity.

‘Thank you for reminding me my softness is one of my many superpowers.

‘This is about being human and showing up with courage and curiosity no matter how bumpy the road there gets.’

And Just Like That was renewed for a third season in August, with showrunner Michael Patrick King saying at the time: ‘We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors.

‘And Just Like That… here comes season three.’

In November, Sara’s co-star Cynthia Nixon joined activists staging a hunger strike to demand US president Joe Biden called for a permanent ceasefire in the war.

The 57-year-old appeared outside the White House beside five politicians, and explained that her two children are Jewish, while her grandparents are Holocaust survivors.

‘I have been asked by my son to use any voice I have to affirm as loudly as possible that never again means never again for everyone,’ she said, via Sky News.

‘In seven weeks Israel has killed more civilians on a tiny strip of land than was killed in 20 years of war in the entire country of Afghanistan.

‘I am sick and tired of people explaining away by saying that civilian casualties are a routine toll of war. There is nothing routine about these figures. There is nothing routine about these deaths.’

Cynthia, who previously ran for mayor of New York, added: ‘I would like to make a personal plea to a president who has, himself, experienced such devastating personal loss, to connect with that empathy for which he is so well known and to look at the children of Gaza and imagine that they were his children.’ has reached out to HBO and Sara Ramirez’s reps for comment.

And Just Like That is available to watch on Sky and NOW.
