Shoppers left divided by ‘stinky’ slippers which keep feet toasty warm – would you wear them as the mercury plummets?

OPINIONS have been divided over a pair of slippers designed to heat your feet for up to an hour – as people assume they must stink.

The footwear in question is microwavable slippers, which are filled with grains that hold onto heat.

These fluffy slippers have seriously divided opinionsInstagram/tyy.nicolee

One woman said microwaving slippers is “too dirty for her” to ever consider tryingInstagram/tyy.nicolee

The sensation is meant to be similar to putting your tootsies on a radiator.

And while the invention sounds just as exciting as electric blankets, not everyone is convinced.

Shoppers have pointed out that placing footwear in the microwave is unhygienic, and even fear the slippers “must smell foul”.

Content creator Ty Nicole took to Instagram to show off her purchase of microwavable slippers.

“POV: You’ve lived 23 years without heated slippers until now,” she penned.

“Crying at the fact I didn’t even know these existed.

“I’m in love and yes I’ve worn them all day.”

The comments were flooded with mixed opinions, as Dhanae Richards asserted the concept was “too dirty for her” to ever consider.

“I know that microwave smells crazy,” Nick Parisi added.

“All I can think of is months or years down the line, the stench when you microwave it,” Sarah Delardi said.

However, others were keen to give the winter product a try for themselves.

“Wow, these would be so nice, cosy and warm,” Cindy Vaughn commented.

One viewer even dubbed the invention a “game changer for those of us with chronically cold feet”.

In the UK, you can buy heated slippers from Amazon, Heat-Treats and Wheatybags.

Warmies are said to have created the first ever fully microwavable slippers.

The heat generated from the microwave lasts for around an hour before the slippers need another blast.

It’s important not to put non-microwave safe slippers in the microwave – no matter how tempting it seems as mercury plummets.

This is because it could cause a fire in your home.

This morning, Brits woke up to a -4C chill with sleet, snow and ice causing travel chaos.

Temperatures are currently hovering around freezing point throughout the UK.

Forecasters predict the rest of the week will be very cold, with more snow.
