Susanna Reid had a fairly unfortunate start to her Wednesday morning as she was kicked in the head on live TV.

The broadcaster, 53, was presenting ITV’s Good Morning Britain with co-presenter Ed Balls, 56, when they got into a discussion about plane etiquette – and whether it’s ever OK to put your feet up on the seats.

Susanna got first-hand experience about the dangers of putting your feet up on the seats as she and Ed demonstrated the situation, sitting down in plane seats on set.

As she took her seat, Ed, sitting behind her, flung his feet up – and kicked her directly in the head.

And it didn’t look like a light knock, as the professional immediately bent over and held her head in her hands, as a horrified Ed realised what he had done and began apologising profusely.

‘I don’t know if I can carry on doing the show,’ she said – looking as though she was only half joking.

An embarrassed Ed put his hands up in admission of guilt, as she continued sarcastically: ‘Well, that is our debate – should you put your feet up on the seat?’

Ed then asked Susanna if she was alright, but she continued on introducing the next segment, ignoring him.

As the show returned after a short break however she joked with Ed about the incident, saying they had never solved a debate so early in the show.

Fans couldn’t believe what they had witnessed, with Ken Chisholm scolding Ed on X, saying he ‘needs a lesson in how to behave.’

Gerry Moore called it a ‘classic TV moment,’ saying they had just turned on the YB ‘to see Ed Balls kick Susanna on the head accidentally’.

‘What just happened?’ User Rachellina0 wrote, adding ‘poor Susanna!’

Tony Calder joked that ‘at least that kick in the head didn’t spoil [Susanna’s] hair.’

It’s the second day in a row the morning programme became utterly derailed, as the hosts were left in bits on Tuesday morning as the show mistook musician Weird Al Yankovic for… Daniel Radcliffe’s girlfriend.

The Harry Potter star had attended the Emmys with long-term girlfriend Erin Darke on Monday night, but as entertainment expert Richard Arnold spoke about them, GMB instead played a clip of Daniel hanging out with Weird Al.

As the clip played and Richard spoke about Daniel’s ‘long term girlfriend Erin Darke,’ he was interrupted by Susanna who pulled a face, bewildered, and said: ‘Sorry?!’

Richard then burst into laughter and announced ‘I don’t think that’s – that is definitely not her!’

‘No judgement, but I don’t think we got that right,’ Susanna added.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
