That collaboration between Ed Sheeran and metal band Cradle of Filth is set to be released in the near future… and fans aren’t sure what to think.
The band’s frontman Dani Filth, 50, previously revealed back in 2021 that a collab with Ed, 32, might be in the the works.
Fans have had to wait until now for a proper update and despite not confirming an exact release date for the album, Dani teased that they’re hoping to release it by the end of the year.
The partnership has definitely been a shock to some people, as Ed’s hits like Photograph, Perfect and Thinking Out Loud are obviously a far cry from Cradle of Filth songs such as Nymphetamine, Her Ghost in the Fog and The Death of Love.
Dani gave an update about the track while speaking to Polish YouTube channel Pełna Kulturka in a new interview.
While discussing the band’s upcoming album and any surprises on there, Dani dished: ‘Well, one of the surprises, obviously, but it’s not so much a surprise is that we’ve got a song that we have Ed Sheeran guesting on,’ confirming the track would be included on the album.

He went on: ‘People have heard it and loved it. But it is what you imagine – it’s Cradle Of Filth and it’s Ed Sheeran. It sounds like Ed Sheeran, it sounds like Cradle Of Filth. There’s a blast beat in it.’
Unsurprisingly, the collab has had quite a few people talking online, with many unsure of whether a Cradle of Filth and Ed team-up would work.
X user @SIGN0FLIFE wrote: ‘Ed Sheeran on a Cradle of Filth song is the last thing I ever expected where are we’
@MoonPrismNat added: ‘A Cradle of filth and Ed Sheeran collaborated with was not on my 2024 bingo card [sic]’
@zzbrownie11 commented: ‘Can’t wait for another satanic panic when Ed Sheeran fans find out who Cradle of Filth are.’

Cradle of Filth’s upcoming album is a follow-up to their 2021 record Existence Is Futile.
Dani previously told Kerrang! Radio in 2021 of potentially working with Ed: ‘I’ve actually been e-mailing with [Ed]… He actually touched base with me.
‘I’ve been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don’t own my own bar or village, and it’d be better if I went there.
‘He said he’d do anything. Quite literally. He said he’s a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually.’
The musician went on to say of the band not always doing things people would expect: ‘If someone tells us not to do something, then we’ll do it. That’s been our prerogative the whole time. I did this rap song with this band called Twiztid in America. It’s actually turned out more like Rammstein and Beastie Boys than full-on rap.
‘So, in that respect, I think it the Ed Sheeran collaboration would be great fun. I think it’d be great if we did it for charity, because at least it would bring a bit of credibility to it.’
The collab comes after Ed – who has previously spoken about being a heavy metal fan – surprised fans in 2022 by teaming up with rockers Bring Me The Horizon for a Brit Awards performance of his hit ‘Bad Habits’.
