Married At First Sight star Nikita Jasmine has revealed that she was left dashing to the emergency room after being ‘unable to breathe’.
The reality TV star – who was kicked off the series where ‘strangers marry each other’ for ‘unacceptable behaviour’ – told her followers she had been struggling with laryngitis and strep throat.
It was a nasty experience that not only saw her New Years Eve plans ruined, but has left her considering the strength of some of her friendships after some people didn’t ‘reach out’ to check on her.
‘Hello, people!’ she opened on Instagram, before revealing that she had taken a two-week break from all of her social media profiles in order to focus on getting better after the ordeal.
‘Been stuck on what to say as I didn’t have a very good start to the year unfortunately,’ she carried on, before revealing she started to ‘feel poorly’ on New Years Eve.

‘[It] started off as a cold and then led onto Strep A and laryngitis, so could barely swallow or breathe which wasn’t great. On antibiotics for two bloody weeks, trips to A&E, but now I’m back!’
Strep A, officially named Group A Streptococcus, are ‘bacteria commonly found on the skin or in the throat’ that ‘under some circumstances’ can lead to infections and illness – main symptoms include a high temperature and sore throat.
She continued, admitting she took a social media break because it was hard to look at the outside world while she was too ill to experience it: ‘Got anxiety on what to post as I haven’t been myself at all.

‘I kept looking at others so happy and ready to smash 2024 when my head wasn’t in a good place and immune system had been terrible to boot.
‘Didn’t want to put a brave face on and post everyday, pretending I was okay, acting like my jolly self, etc. hence why I had a small socials detox, which, honestly, does do you the world of good and I’d recommend it to anyone!’
Thankfully, after a round of antibiotics, Nikita has told fans she’s very much on the mend and is hoping to get back to a more active lifestyle soon.
However, the experience has left the Celebs Go Dating star questioning who her real friends are after only a select group of people reached out to check on her during her recent health crisis.
‘Thank you to those that reached out to me, noticing I was quiet. Randoms and friends that were checking in on me constantly, I appreciate every single one of you,’ she said, adding two love heart emojis onto her message.
Nikita was removed from Married At First Sight after being involved in an off-camera incident that breached Channel 4’s code of conduct, but did manage to make full appearances on Celebs Go Dating in 2021.
On the programme, she appeared alongside the likes of Ulrika Johnson and Apprentice star Ryan-Mark Parsons, who received the lowest score of the entire series.
