Who saw that coming? (Picture: ITV)
The Masked Singer just delivered another shocker as Bubble Tea was revealed to be… Absolutely Fabulous legend Julia Sawalha.
After Shirley Ballas was unmasked as Rat last week, Bubble Tea found herself in a sing-off with Owl, getting knocked out by the judges.
Coincidentally, Julia’s Ab Fab co-star Jennifer Saunders was the night’s guest judge alongside regulars Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross, and was obviously flabbergasted to be reunited with her on-screen daughter.
Before her big reveal, Joel shared another clue of a lunchbox featuring two hens on ice skates, referring to Julia’s starring role in Chicken Run.
Jennifer ran down from her podium to give Julia a hug.
‘I thought you’d guess me immediately,’ said Julia, with the biggest grin on her face.

Explaining why she took the leap to compete on The Masked Singer, Julia said: ‘I wanted to do something that would really take me out of my comfort zone.
‘I like to do jobs that actually I’m really terrified of because then they’re a big challenge. This lived up to that!’
‘The panel’s guesses were just so hilarious,’ she continued. ‘I couldn’t believe they thought I was Hannah Waddingham.
‘I thought Jennifer got pretty close with Bubble (the character from Absolutely Fabulous). I think they did fairly well.’
So far on the 2024 series of The Masked Singer, Dionne Warwick was unmasked as Weather, Pointless host Alexander Armstrong was Chicken Caesar, Strictly judge Ballas was Rat and now Julia has been exposed as Bubble Tea.
Who will shock us next week?
The Masked Singer continues Saturday on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
