Ricky Hatton is the first celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice 2024.

The boxer bowed out gracefully as the first to be eliminated from the ITV competition with partner Robin Johnstone.

Although the judges agreed his skate off was leaps and bounds better than his first skate, all voted to save comedian Lou Sanders, who gave an impressive skate-off performance after failing to initially impress judges Jayne, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo.

‘I’m gutted to be going home,’ Ricky said, before saying that he will carry on sating despite the disappointing result.

He continued: ‘I may be out in the first round but I’ve had a great time and made some wonderful friends.’

Comic Lou was told by Oti that she ‘needed to work on her core’ after the first performance, but fans took to X, formerly Twitter, with outrage as she skated solo for much of the routine – unlike other stars.

The series is being hosted by former This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern – who has replaced Phillip Schofield on the skating show.

Stephen hosted the show briefly in 2022 after Schofield, 61, tested positive for Covid-19.

This week, Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney was the first to take to the ice and was told there was something ’empowering’ about her performance by judge Oti.

Next up was Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire, who revealed he had dropped his dance partner Vanessa Bauer shortly before the show.

Radio presenter Adele Roberts then took to the ice and received the highest mark of the series so far, despite her professional partner’s little hiccup.

She described it as an ‘absolute dream’ and the 44-year-old, who declared she was free of cancer in June 2022, said ‘everything that I’ve been through was worth it for this moment’.
