Millie Gibson has gushed over Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa, after brushing aside rumours that she’d been axed from the series.

It’s been claimed the former Coronation Street actress, 19, won’t be returning for a second series after making her debut as Ruby Sunday during the Christmas Special.

Instead, after reports that Doctor Who showrunner Russell had already written out Millie’s character in forthcoming scripts, with a source claiming that she will only be back ‘to tie up loose ends’, it is rumoured that Varada Sethu will star alongside Ncuti’s Time Lord.

And while Millie seems to have been ignoring the reports with a selection of holiday snaps, she’s now showed off her adorable friendship with the Sex Education star.

Ncuti, 31, posted a series of self-declared thirst traps on Instagram, to which Millie commented: ‘I’m breathless.’

This comes after he made his feelings known about the claims she’d been axed, sending her some love on Instagram with a photo of them on the set of Doctor Who with the caption ‘My lil [heart emoji]’.

Earlier this week, an insider told The Mirror: ‘Millie Gibson has all but left now and there’s a brand new companion, which is really exciting.

‘Russell is keeping things moving and isn’t letting the grass grow, that’s for sure.’

The publication added that Millie will only make a handful of appearances across Sex Education star Ncuti’s second series as the Time Lord, airing in 2025.

‘She is full of talent, strength, she has a cheeky sparkle in her eye and is sharp as a razor.

‘From the moment she walked into the room she captured all of our attention with her effervescence and then solidified that attention with the sheer torque of her talent.

‘This adventure is going to be so wild and so fun, I cannot WAIT to sail the universe with Millie!’
