Amanda Holden has shared a novel hack to help rake in the cash – well, at least according to her mum anyway.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 52, shocked fans with her revelation, which her mum claimed had helped her nab hundreds of pounds as she explained the weird new superstition.

And it’s certainly a tip you’ve never heard before!

Speaking to co-host Jamie Theakston on her Heart radio show on Tuesday, Amanda admitted: ‘She [Judith] said, “Since I’ve put my toilet seat down, I’ve won a couple of hundred pounds on the premium bonds” – and I went, “I’m sorry, what?”

‘And she said, “Oh yeah, if you keep your toilet seat down, your money stays with you”.’

Mum-of-two Amanda remained rather baffled by her mother’s advice as she quipped: ‘Honestly, she’d only had one glass of red at that point, so I was like, “Wow”.’

However, things became a tiny (tiny) bit clearer as the TV personality continued the story.

‘She said, “Well it’s that fooshy, isn’t it? That’s what it is.” I went, “Fooshy? You mean Feng shui, Judith!”’

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese traditional practice which claims to use energy forces to harmonise individuals with their surrounding environment – and apparently now benefits their bank balances too.

‘Superstitions don’t get weirder than this… or do they 👀 listen to @noholdenback’s mums 🤣🤣’ posted the official Heart Instagram account alongside a clip of the confession.

‘That’s it, it’s Fushy from now on 🤣😂🤣’ joked Vanessa Grenfell in the comments section, while Lee Crofts added: ‘See, keep it down!!’

‘I’m putting my loo seat down 😉’ vowed Crystal Venn, convinced enough by Judith’s logic to give it a go.

And perhaps it’s not as unusual as first thought, as Loulla Komo exclaimed: ‘My mother says the same thing 😍’

Amanda, who shared daughters Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12, with husband Chris Hughes has had a very family-focused start to 2024, with both her children celebrating birthdays.

At Lexi’s 18th, she was absolutely thriving as she took centre stage on the dancefloor in a sequinned outfit after draping herself across the DJ booth.

Her moves sparked headlines and even saw host Lorraine Kelly joke over the furore as Tyler West introduced the clip on her show, explaining: ‘I have no words for this. I have no words for that performance right there.’

Amanda was getting her groove on to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder on the Dancefloor at the party, and when Lorraine, 64, saw the section that involved her grinding against a wall, she remarked: ‘Ooh, Amanda.’

Tyler admitted that he couldn’t imagine his own mum acting in a similar way at his own 18th birthday party, while referencing the fact that Murder on the Dancefloor has had a resurgence since it was featured in the hit film Saltburn.

Lorraine then put on a whiny voice to seemingly imitate Amanda’s daughter, quipping: ‘It’s like, “Muuum! Mum, stop it!”’

However, Amanda found plenty of support for her dancing, with Dame Kelly Holmes commenting on Instagram, ‘Parrrty 🥳 🎉,’ and Loose Women star Katie Piper adding: ‘Brilliant 👏.’

One Instagram user called Carrie urged others not to ‘make judgemental comments’ about the video, as she was ‘having a fabulous night with her family and friends’. ‘Enjoy life, share love not hate,’ they added.
