Jennifer Lopez, can she fix it? Jennifer Lopez – yes she can!

In a children’s TV twist no one expected in 2024, the 54-year-old pop megastar is playing a key role in bringing Bob The Builder to the big screen.

Jenny From The (cinder) Block is developing a feature length film based on the beloved show as her Nuyorican Productions company is teaming up with Anthony Ramos, 32, on the project.

They’ll be working with animation studio ShadowMachine, who are best known as the minds behind Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

Ramos will take on the titular role as Bob himself, who was initially voiced by Neil Morrissey in the UK, while international versions have had their own stars.

The film – which is being written by Felipe Vargas – will follow the beloved character as he travels to ‘the enchanting Island of Puerto Rico for a major construction job’.

The synopsis teases: ‘[Bob] takes on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people.’

Ramos – who has starred in the likes of Hamilton, A Star Is Born and In The Heights – admitted the movie takes inspiration from aspects of his own life.

He said in a statement: ‘For years, Bob the Builder’s characters have inspired young people around the world.

‘I’m proud to partner with Mattel Films, ShadowMachine, Nuyorican Productions, and Felipe Vargas to bring this important message to the big screen, adding elements of life that are inspired by my own.

‘A movie about friends working together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help to conquer any obstacle in your way. Can we fix it? Yes, we can!’

Bob The Builder initially ran on CBeebies from 1999 to 2011, while the US version ran on Nick Jr from 2001 to 2004 before landing on PBS Kids for a decade until 2015.

Meanwhile, Mattel Films’ involvement comes hot on the heels of Barbie’s huge success, with the studio developing a number of properties.
