The Chase host Bradley Walsh was in disbelief when one celebrity contestant banked an astonishing amount.

Joe Sugg did the unthinkable when he took on Paul Sinha in his celebrity charity special alongside Myles Stephenson, David James, and Lucrezia Millarini.

The YouTube icon, 32, earned a whopping £201,000, leaving presenter Bradley and the audience speechless.

Joe initially clocked up £8,000 in his quickfire cash builder round, which is impressive enough.

But when it came to face The Chaser, aka The Sinnerman, 53, Joe was tempted by a very lucrative offer.

The social media influencer was offered to take either a low offer of £1,000 or an amazingly high offer of £201,000.

‘If I go for the [the high offer] it could make a viral moment, which is a good thing,’ quipped the vlogger.

‘It’d be an incredible amount for charity as well.’

So, he went for it and managed to get a string of questions correct, making for extremely tense viewing.

Fortunately, he had the full backing of Bradders.

‘I wish you luck,’ the presenter told Joe. ‘You’re gonna make history here, mate. If you go through, you’re making history.’

Bradley championed: ‘We’re gonna go viral. I better stand next to you if you’re gonna go through! Come on, good luck.’

Joe topped up the prize pot to a mega £213,000 after his success, putting him through to the final.

Sadly, the euphoria didn’t last long, as Joe, Myles, and David failed to beat the Chaser overall, sending them home with £1,000 for their respective charities instead of £71,000 each.

The trio answered 18 questions correctly, but Chaser Paul caught them out with 30 seconds remaining on his clock.

Nevertheless, Joe’s performance was astounding and viewers at home were in awe.

JennyWood6 declared Joe a ‘legend.’

The episode comes after iconic Chaser Anne Hegerty hit out at rumours she cheats on The Chase, insisting there is ‘nothing secret happening’ during filming.

The former I’m A Celebrity campmate, 65, has appeared The Governess on the beloved show since 2010, rubbishing ‘fix’ claims and explaining that the programme is assessed by ‘independent adjudicators.’

She explained: ‘I get people saying all sorts of things. They ask me if I cheat. They say, “You’ve got someone in your ears telling you the answers.”

‘Others say Bradley reads the questions faster for the Chasers. I’ve checked with a stopwatch and he doesn’t do that. If the show did any of that, wouldn’t they get six better-looking people?

Anne continued to the Daily Star: ‘There are always going to be cynical people, but we have independent adjudicators – there’s nothing secret happening. It wouldn’t work if it wasn’t all above board.’

The Chase airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
