Having known each other for several years already, the presenter pair, 50 and 48 respectively, have become even closer on and off-camera since taking over full-time hosting duties on ITV’s This Morning.
Their friendship has now reinforced in front of the world as Dermot made a touching Instagram post, dedicating it to Alison shortly after it was revealed how ‘gutted’ she was for being snubbed as a presenter at this year’s Baftas.
Taking to Instagram, Dermot posted a lovely picture of the two of them backstage in a dressing room before his ITV colleague’s last panto of the season at the Birmingham Hippodrome.
While the former X Factor host was dressed casually in a cardigan and black jeans, Alison was in full panto gear as she stepped out on the stage for the last performance of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Dermot captioned the post: ‘All hail the queen. Her last panto today, at her beloved Birmingham Hippodrome. Saw her yesterday, with her wonderful cast, and couldn’t be more proud. Well done Bab, incredible shift.’
In the photo, Dermot showed his affection for his on-screen partner by planting an affectionate kiss on Alison’s head as the two cuddled up for the camera.
Alison immediately commented, saying: ‘Thanks darlin’, before sharing the same photo on her own feed.
Hit List and This Morning presenter Rochelle Humes told Dermot it was a picture ‘for a frame’.

Dermot’s picture comes after a week in which Alison is reported to have been ‘gutted’ by the decision to not give her hosting duties at the Baftas for the second year running.
The former Big Brother contestant is said to be ‘disappointed’, with rumours suggesting that she was hoping to become a regular host of the prestigious awards show.
Last year she presented alongside actor Richard E Grant, but has not been invited back.
Instead, David Tennant has been chosen as the host for 2024, with the Doctor Who star ‘delighted’ to be taking over.
‘I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE Bafta Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life,’ the Good Omens star said in a statement.
After Paloma, 42, admitted that she felt like a ‘failure’ for ‘breaking up with my childrens’ dad’, but Alison reassured the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer, reminding her of what she’s achieved in life.
‘That doesn’t make you a failure- you are a single mum and a pop star who is smashing life. That is your life and journey and story.’
She continued: ‘I felt that failure with my son’s dad when we broke up but he moved on and has three other kids now and they are part of our life.’
Watch This Morning on ITV, weekdays from 10am.
