The next PlayStation State Of Play showcase looks set to happen this week, with the Silent Hill 2 remake, Death Stranding 2, and others rumoured to make an appearance.

Following multiple rumours earlier in the year, it seems Sony might drop a new State Of Play presentation this week.

In a post on Twitter, XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker, who has a history of accurately leaking State Of Play broadcasts, claimed the next presentation will take place ‘roughly’ around Wednesday, January 31.

The rest of Baker’s post features not-so-cryptic teases of what the broadcast will supposedly include, hinting at Team Ninja’s Rise Of The Rōnin, which is set to launch on March 22, along with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Death Stranding 2, and the recently rumoured Until Dawn remaster.

The more surprising speculated additions include a remaster of 2011’s Sonic Generations, the Silent Hill 2 remake from developer Bloober Team, Judas from BioShock creator Ken Levine, and a new instalment in the Metro game series.

Baker clarifies that there’s a ‘decent chance’ this isn’t the full list of games shown, but this is all the information he received.

Other insiders have corrobated the arrival of a State Of Play presentation this week, with podcaster NateTheHate suggesting it will take place either on Wednesday, January 31 or Thursday, February 1.

Video game researcher Kurakasis has also given further credence to the rumour, by seemingly leaking that the Metro game will be a VR title named Metro Awakening.

The last State Of Play showcase took place on Thursday, September 14, with others last year airing on Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, February 23 – so, if true, it seems like either Wednesday or Thursday is a pretty safe bet at this point.

Earlier this year, insider Jeff Grubb said the next PlayStation showcase will take place in ‘the coming weeks’. Last week, a reveal around Death Stranding 2 was rumoured to ‘occur within the next 15 days’, which also lines up for a date this week.

Even if the sources are correct there could always be a last minute delay, but at the moment a presentation this week certainly looks likely.

At one point a Nintendo Direct was also rumoured for roughly the same time but that is now looking less likely, after Nintendo released new videos for two of its biggest upcoming games, without any Direct.
