Jack Whitehall’s partner Roxy Horner was ‘very upset’ to discover their baby’s due date was 9/11.

The model, 32, was struggling with the possibility that their first child together may have been born on September 11 – the date that the horrific terrorist attacks took place in New York in 2001.

Her emotional reaction was spoken about by comedian Jack, 35, in his special standup gig titled Settle Down which took place at London’s O2 and was recorded for Netflix.

Jack, who recorded a Christmas advert with Daisy May Cooper yesterday, recalled seeing his baby for the first time at a scan and then asking the nurse about the due date.

‘The nurse got all shifty,’ he stated.

‘She said “The due date is going to be somewhere between the 10th of September and the 12th of September”. I went: “It feels like there’s a date slap bang in the middle there, but for some reason you don’t want to say”.

‘That is because my baby’s due date is 9/11. Roxy was very upset about that, but I was a little more pragmatic. I didn’t think it was going to affect our lives in any serious way. I mean it probably rules out the name Osama, but it wasn’t high on the list.

‘”This is Osama Bin Whitehall, it’s a family name”,’ Jack joked.

Jack then claimed his dad Michael Whitehall said in response: ‘Well I guess it could be worse, you could be having twins.’

Jack and Roxy settled on the name Elsie for their daughter, who’s arrival was announced on September 6.

Taking a break from telling jokes, Jack had a heartfelt moment in the pre-recorded show which took place last year, where he spoke about Roxy’s miscarriage.

‘I don’t want to give you the Instagram-filtered version of my life. We actually lost a baby first, we suffered a miscarriage which is a horrible thing for anyone to go through,’ he began.

‘I mention it because it’s this weird grief that is shrouded in secrecy. I didn’t talk about it for ages and as soon as I was comfortable sharing it with friends and family, and realising that other people had similar experiences it was a huge comfort to me.’

Jack then shared his admiration for Roxy, who he called ‘strong’ and ‘resilient’.

‘It completely recalibrated my mindset. I went from being scared, bewildered and ambivalent about the idea of having a kid to suddenly wanting to be a dad more than anything else in the world,’ he concluded which led to a round of applause from his fans.

Returning to his typical self-deprecating jokes, he spoke about Roxy being ‘linked’ to Leonardo DiCaprio.

‘That is a great act to have to follow. You know how depressing that is. I mean mainly depressing knowing that the only reason your girlfriend is with you is because she turned 26,’ he remarked.

Jack is referring to the 49-year-old Oscar-winning actor’s habit of rarely dating any woman who has left their mid-twenties.
