‘Starstruck’ James Corden reveals excruciating first meeting with Breaking Bad legend Bryan Cranston-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

James Corden has opened up about his extremely awkward first meeting with Bryan Cranston, giving us serious second-hand embarrassment.

In a new interview, the former Late Late Show host revealed himself as a huge Breaking Bad fan, and explained that he has never been as starstruck as he was bumping into the Walter White actor in LA.

During a joint appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna, the 45-year-old was joined by his favorite actor, 67, as they took us all on a walk down memory lane to unpack their rollercoaster encounter.

‘The first time I ever met Bryan Cranston, which was a huge moment in my life,’ he began. ‘My wife and I – she was my girlfriend at the time – and we’d gone to Los Angeles for the first time in our lives.

‘We’d spent the entire morning watching season two of Breaking Bad.

‘We then decide to leave our room and go for lunch. I go for lunch and who walks in the restaurant but Bryan Cranston. To this day, I have never been as starstruck as I was in that moment.

‘I went over, I said “Bryan…”’

Without skipping a beat, the Argylle star interjected: ‘And then I immediately say, “Could I have some more coffee, please?”’

‘That is completely true,’ James laughed. ‘I said, “Bryan, you don’t know me, I’m an actor in the United Kingdom and I’ve been watching the show this morning. Your performance is incredible.”

‘And he said “Thank you, can I get a Diet Coke with no ice?”’

Someone get Bryan a Gavin and Stacey boxset, immediately.

James recently made headlines after bowing out from the Late Late Show last year, following eight years in the hot seat.

He made his debut as host of the late night CBS series in 2015, but decided to step back from the role in 2022 – with his final episode airing last April.

It was later confirmed that comedian Taylor Tomlinson will be taking over the timeslot in a brand new series, After Midnight.

Confirming her new position on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in November, she joked to the audience: ‘I’m 29, so if you don’t know who I am, don’t worry. I barely know myself.’

Taylor also quipped that it was her first ‘real job’ since she began her comedy career as a teenager.

According to Deadline, After Midnight will premiere this year, but a release date has yet to be confirmed.

Hopefully, Bryan can be her first guest…
