Catherine O’Hara has revealed she is more than ready to tackle a brand-new challenge in her career by taking on her first-ever nude scene.

The Schitt’s Creek star, 69, has long been a celebrated actress, appearing in films including Beetlejuice, Home Alone and last year’s Pain Hustlers with Chris Evans and Emily Blunt.

Her latest film is Matthew Vaughn’s spy flick Argylle, opposite Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell and Bryan Cranston.

This marks her first action movie during a career that started almost 50 years ago, in 1975.

Having seemingly had a whale of a time ticking that off her bucket list, the star is now ready to strip off too.

Chatting about her action debut on Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning America, Catherine called it ‘exciting’ before adding: ‘Now I’m going to do a nude scene!’

Laughing, she continued: ‘I think it’s time for a nude scene now. I’ve done the action, that’s off the wish list.

Co-star Howard is certainly a fan of the idea too, as she chimed in: ‘Oh the world deserves it Catherine, please!’

O’Hara plays Howard’s character Elly Conway’s mother in the star-studded movie, meaning she got to sport a red wig to match her onscreen daughter.

Elly is an introverted best-selling spy novelist, reluctantly drawn into the real world of espionage when the plots of her books, featuring a fictional secret agent named Argylle (Cavill), get a little too close to the activities of a sinister underground syndicate.

When Aidan (Rockwell), an undercover spy, shows up to save her from being kidnapped or killed, Elly and her beloved cat Alfie (played nepo cat Chip, pet to Vaughn and his wife Claudia Schiffer) are plunged into a covert world where nothing and no one are what they seem.

O’Hara recently confessed that she accidentally suffered a ‘sickening’ brief Home Alone moment with her own children.

She starred as another famous movie mother in the first two films in the franchise, forgetful mum Kate McCallister to son Kevin (Macaulay Culkin).

Her sons in real life, Matthew and Luke – who she shares with husband Bo Welch – briefly got separated from their parents in, of all places, New York (cue the sequel).

‘We were in New York once; I think it was New York. Bo and I got on the subway, we turned around, the doors are closing, and they weren’t on,’ she told People Magazine.

‘I screamed and people screamed with me. Everybody joined in.’

Thankfully, their screams worked and the doors reopened, meaning the family was quickly reunited.

‘It makes me sick to think what could have happened,’ she continued. ‘What happens? You’re on the train, it goes to the next stop, and you think, are they going to stay in that spot?

‘Are they going to be safe? Will we go back? Will they think, “Oh, I’ll get on the next train and go there?” We didn’t have phones.’

In December, she enjoyed a sweet reunion with onscreen son Culkin as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, reducing him to tears with her praise in a proud tribute.

Argylle hits cinemas on Thursday, February 1.
