Kim Kardashian has given a glimpse into the painful reality of living with a chronic health condition as she shared an update on her psoriasis.

The 43-year-old reality icon, who first started experiencing symptoms of the autoimmune disease in the mid-2000s, took to Instagram on Tuesday night with video clips showing an angry-looking spread of a dark pink rash on the front of her leg.

She also pointed out patches on her ankle and up her thigh.

‘How crazy is my psoriasis right now guys? It’s like all up my leg. I don’t know what’s happening – but I’ve got to figure this out. This is crazy,’ she admitted as she panned her camera across her leg.

‘I usually just have this spot but now I can tell it’s going down my leg and up my leg and all up my thigh, so I just know it’s time to figure this out,’ the mum-of-four added.

Skims entrepreneur Kim, who recently came under fire after it was announced she was producing an Elizabeth Taylor documentary series for the BBC, also revealed the flare-up was ‘painful’ as she shared her frustration over not knowing what had caused the intense reaction.

‘Not gonna lie, this is painful. Not sure what my triggers are. I haven’t changed my diet. I’ve tried everything! Psoriasis sucks,’ she penned across the video.

‘Just wanted to share my journey with you guys. #psoriasissucks’

However, the TV star was able to see the bright side of things as she commented on the shape of her rash.

‘Wait, am I tripping or is my psoriasis in the shape of a heart for Valentine’s Day. Do you guys see that? Kind of, right?’ Kim suggested, as she filmed the front of her leg.

‘Like I think I totally see it and I can see the psoriasis everywhere else, but, lucky me, I have a heart-shaped psoriasis [sic] for Valentine’s Day.’

Psoriasis is a chronic condition that causes flaky patches of skin which form scales and can vary greatly in severity.

According to the NHS, these patches normally appear on your elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but can appear anywhere on your body.

Most people are only affected with small patches and in some cases, the patches can be itchy or sore.

Psoriasis affects around 2 in 100 people in the UK, and can run in families, most often developing in adults aged between 20 and 30 and between 50 and 60.

Many people’s psoriasis symptoms start or become worse because of a certain event, known as a trigger; these can include a skin injury, throat infections and using certain medicines.

Kim last spoke about a major flare-up in 2022, when her intense three-week diet to lose 16lb to fit into the ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ dress Marilyn Monroe wore left her with serious health complications.

Kim revealed she had a ‘really painful’ flare up of psoriasis which also left her experiencing arthritis in her hands after switching up her diet from being plant-based to eating meat in order to slim down in time to fit into the dress for the night.

She told Allure’s August 2022 issue: ‘Psoriasis broke out over my body and I got psoriatic arthritis, so I couldn’t really move my hands.

‘I had to go to a rheumatologist who put me on a steroid. I was freaking out. I cut out the meat again, and it’s calmed down.’

She also shared a makeup-free selfie in 2019 to give an up-close look of her skin complaint when it flared up on her face.

Captioning the video ‘psoriasis face’, she showed painful-looking, sore red patches under her eyes.

Kim vowed to never cover up her psoriasis patches back in 2016 when she said that she was learning to accept it.
