The former This Morning host, 67, regularly sparks outrage over his comments on the ITV daytime programme and even landed himself the title of third most complained about TV moment last year.
Today was no different, as users on X asked GMB to ban Madeley from leading sensitive issues after he told the mother who became emotional after a clip of her late daughter played: ‘You wanted us to show it so we did.’
Madeley and his co-host Susanna Reid, 53, were interviewing Erin Gibson, 44, about the potential dangers of medical tourism after her child Morgan Riberio died aged 20 after gastric sleeve surgery in Turkey.
The segment began with a social media clip of Morgan discussing her surgery before she made the trip earlier this month.
‘Well obviously that made for a very difficult watch for Morgan’s mum Erin who is with us now,’ Madeley began. ‘Are you alright?’

Erin responded: ‘Yes sorry that was a bit difficult to see.’
Jumping in, Madeley added: ‘I can imagine. But you wanted us to show it so obviously we did.’
The comment appalled viewers on X, with Ruth Abram writing: ‘Christ Richard show some empathy “are you alright” “well no” ok well you wanted us to show the video! #gmb.’

Agreeing, account Nou26 added sarcastically: ‘Well you wanted us to show it… move on. Nice richard… very sympathetic #gmb still watching because balls in mouth isn’t on finally.’
The account Permanently Exhausted Pigeon wrote simply: ‘Madeley really shouldn’t be allowed to do these type of interviews. #gmb.’
Morgan made the trip to Turkey alongside her boyfriend for the £2,500 gastric sleeve surgery earlier this month, in a bid to dodge lengthy NHS waiting lists.
After the procedure on January 5, she was given the all-clear to fly home with boyfriend James Brewster, 19.
But on the flight home, Morgan fell ill and went into septic shock.
The plane made an emergency landing in Serbia, where doctors discovered her small intestine had been cut, leading to a deadly infection and cardiac arrest that ultimately killed her.
In a warning to others, Erin previously told the Independent: ‘Growing up she was bullied a lot, she’s always battled with her weight and been a bigger girl and she had a really rough time with it.
‘I had that sinking feeling because I’d heard horror stories about Turkey. I never ever want this to happen to another daughter. I don’t want her life to be in vain.’
