We have finally got our first glimpse of Cameron Diaz’s first film in 10 years, and it’s like she never left our screens.

Following a string of blockbusters and exceptional rom-coms, the 51-year-old took a step back from Hollywood to focus on her personal life, and went on to welcome daughter Raddix with husband Benji Madden.

After appearing as Hannigan in 2014’s Annie, she basically retired from acting for around a decade, before announcing her surprise comeback in 2022.

Earlier today, Netflix dropped the very first look at her aptly-named new project, Back in Action, alongside Jamie Foxx – who sparked concern when he fell ill during filming.

In the snap, she could be seen posing in a black suit and lace top, beside the 56-year-old, who looked seriously dapper in a black tux.

While little else is known about the plot, they were stood in a lift, surrounded by bodies on the floor.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the teaser, and celebrated the news on social media.

‘All I had to see was Jamie Fox’s and Cameron Diaz and stopped reading. I’m already excited,’ one cheered.

‘Cameron Diaz is my absolute favourite film genre, so happy she’s back, it’s been a long 10 years,’ a follower agreed.

A follower penned: ‘Cameron Diaz said she’s only coming back to acting if she gets to do REAL cinema, and I appreciate that.’

‘Foxx managed to convince her to come out of retirement. I bet it’ll be fire,’ a Twitter user predicted.

As a commenter added: ‘CAMERON DIAZ IS BACK? I feel like nobody’s making enough noise about this?’

We definitely are.

A release date for Back In Action has yet to be confirmed, but the official synopsis reads: ‘Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.’

The stars are joined in the flick by Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott and Jamie Demetriou, while Seth Gordon is serving as director.

Cameon has appeared in countless films over the years, including the Holiday, Shrek Charlie’s Angels and My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Her infamous hairstyle in There’s Something About Mary will probably live rent free in our minds until the end of time.

However, she stepped out of the spotlight in recent years to grow other parts of her life – including marrying Good Charlotte musician Benji.

Unpacking her decision during an appearance on Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart series, she explained: ‘When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time, when you’re the person that is delivering one thing, you’re the person on the screen, all parts of you that isn’t that has to sort of be handed off to other people.

‘For my personal, spiritual self, I was realizing that that one part of me that functioned at a high level wasn’t enough.

‘[This included] different parts of my life, my home, every aspect, from finance, just the management of me as a human being, not me as Cameron Diaz the machine.’

‘I just looked around and there were so many parts of my life that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing, and I couldn’t really manage, because everything was so massive.’

Back In Action will be on Netflix later this year.
