Bollywood actress dies from cancer aged just 32-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

A Bollywood model has died of cervical cancer aged 32.

Poonam Pandey died on Friday morning, with her management team revealing the heartbreaking news with a brief but poignant statement.

On her social media accounts, they wrote: ‘This morning is a tough one for us.
‘Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer.

‘Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness.’

The Indian model and actress made her Bollywood debut as the lead in 2013 movie Nasha, in which she played drama teacher Anita who has an affair with a teenager student.

With credits including Love is Poison, The Journey of Karma and Maili & Co, Pandey was most recently seen in Indian reality show Lock Upp.

The programme saw celebrities behind bars in a prison where they had to take on challenges to get free.

Speaking to local reporters, her manager Nikita Sharma said: ‘Poonam Pandey, the beloved actress and social media personality, has tragically passed away this morning due to cervical cancer, leaving the entertainment industry in shock and mourning.

‘Her unwavering spirit amidst her health struggles was truly remarkable.’

Sharma also pointed out a ‘critical need for increased awareness and proactive measures against preventable diseases like cervical cancer’.

Alongside her acting career, Pandey was also a successful model, and previously made headlines in 2022 when she promised to strip nude for Team India if they triumphed in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Her final Instagram post was shared on January 30, with a clip of her getting on board a ferry sporting a pair of black leather trousers and a low cut white top.

She captioned the video: ‘White & black: the yin and yang that balance my life.’

Fans and friends have been left shell shocked by her death, with many paying tribute to Pandey after her team announced the news.

Friend Sweety Walia replied to her team’s announcement, writing: ‘This can’t be true pls just spoke to you on the 10th no ways pls tell me the account is hacked noway it can’t be true.’

And YouTuber Shanaya added: ‘Life is Uncertain.. RIP💔’
