The iconic BBC anthology series will be done and dusted after its upcoming ninth season hits screens this year, and filming has now wrapped on the final run of episodes.
Writers and stars Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, who first rose to fame together on League of Gentlemen, created the show back in 2014, and it’s almost time to say goodbye.
Sharing a photo of a clapperboard showing that they finished with the second take of a seventh scene, Steve admitted there were ‘mixed emotions’ as things came to an end.
He wrote on X: ‘Time to say goodbye to #InsideNo9 having just wrapped series 9. This takes us to 55 episodes, a very decent innings.
‘Mixed emotions but can’t wait to share what we’ve made.’
Reece also addressed the ending in a since-deleted tweet (Picture: X)
His co-star and longtime collaborator Reece also shared a similar post, showing a close-up of the board focused on the words: ‘That’s a wrap!’
In a since-deleted post, he wrote: ‘The end. That’s it for “Inside No 9” series 9. What a journey the last ten years have been. But today we arrived at the final stop.
‘So long. Farewell. And thanks for all your kind support and love for the show over the years. We’ll miss it.’

For anyone who isn’t aware, each episode of the series is a self-contained 30-minute story with a range of influences, from pure comedy to gothic horror, all unfolding inside a building, room or even pedalo marked number nine.
As ever, not much is known about the upcoming series with plots and characters being kept tightly under wraps.
However, some of the cast has been revealed, with Stars In Their Eyes host Matthew Kelly set to appear in an as yet undisclosed role, with Dorothy Atkinson, This Country star Charlie Cooper, Mark Bonnar and Derry Girls actress Philippa Dunne also joining the fun.

Rounding off the cast are Plebs’ Joel Fry, Happy Valley star Siobhan Finneran, Eddie Marsan, Vinette Robinson and Adrian Scarborough and Susan Wokoma.
Speaking about the final series, creators Reece and Steve previously said: ‘It is with mixed emotions that we announce we have started filming the final series of Inside No. 9.
‘We overheard some crew members the other day describe us as “a couple of Wonkas” and that seems an apt description.

‘We take the finest ingredients (stellar casts and creatives) and blend them with our secret recipe to produce unique confections that are delicious and often deadly.
‘It has been the greatest privilege to have been allowed to make 55 wildly different episodes and we’ll miss the yearly challenge of trying to entertain and surprise our audience.
‘We honestly feel like golden ticket winners – which makes us not a couple of Wonkas, but a pair of Charlies.’
Inside No. 9 is returning to the BBC this year.
