WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has undergone hip surgery as he continues to recover from his cancer diagnosis.

The 72-year-old commentator, who now works for rival company All Elite Wrestling (AEW), defined a generation of WWE as part of the legendary Attitude Era and beyond.

JR was diagnosed with skin cancer in October 2021, and underwent radiation treatments to battle the disease, going on to have over 20 sessions.

Two months later, he revealed he is cancer free, but Jim has since been undergoing further treatment for wounds related to the radiation.

On Thursday night, he took to social media to update fans on his latest procedure, and thanked fans for their support.

He wrote: ‘Had cancer surgery this morning on my right hip. All went well. Thanks for all your love & support! 🤠💕’

JR, who has been candid about his health issues over the years, first since with AEW in April 2019 and has been with the promotion since the very beginning.

When his initial three year deal ended, he signed an extension in May 2022 for around another 18 months, with that contract set to expire on February 14.

However, he recently made it clear he wants to remain with AEW and would love to commentate on WCW legend Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution on March 3.

The Icon will step into the ring for the last time next month as he and Darby Allin face The Young Bucks in a No Disqualification match, and JR is determined to be part of the special night.

‘I’d like to finish up in AEW… I love working with them,’ he said on a recent episode of his own Grilling JR podcast, noting he wants to work with Tony Schiavone again.

‘If he and I are doing the match with Sting and company… I believe it’s the right thing to do. I need to get signed up so I can be there.’
