Oblivious Davina McCall in shock as long-time friend revealed as Masked Singer’s Dippy Egg-Danni Scott-Entertainment – Metro

The Masked Singer gave viewers an extra special surprise as it was announced that two celebrities were to be revealed in this week’s episode.

After the unexpected reveal of Owl, left to perform were Bigfoot, Piranha, Air Fryer, Eiffel Tower, Dippy Egg, Maypole and Cricket.

Joel Dommett announced up first on the chopping block was Eiffel, Maypole, Dippy Egg, who was the first unmasking with names like Matt Lucas, Chri Evans, or even Matt Hancock thrown about.

In the shock reveal, Nicky Campbell was unmasked as Davina McCall rushed over to hug her fellow presenter.

Dippy Egg’s identity has been heavily speculated after on Sunday Brunch, co-host Simon Rimmer let slip that he might also be one of the secret celebrities taking part.

Clearly, this was a major red herring as Nicky explained his clues and hints while a gobsmacked Davina looked on from the judges’ panel.

The pair got emotional as the presenter teared up to her friend of 13 years singing Moon River, leaving the 62-year-old choked up as he sang his final song.

Last week threw a huge curveball to viewers and the panel as Lorraine Kelly appeared from underneath Owl’s giant watchful eyes.

Judges Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, and Jonathan Ross were joined by comic legend Sir Lenny Henry to help narrow down the names of the celebrities performing in front of them.

This season has been filled with some incredible reveals, including the spectacular Dionne Warwick in a beautiful costume as Weather.

Fans were heartbroken when the Walk On By hitmaker was unmasked on week one, after almost not going on stage at all for her rendition of Johnny Nash’s I Can See Clearly Now.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, costume designer Tim Simpson confessed: ‘We had a rather dramatic moment where Weather, Dionne Warwick, came on and she tried her mask on and she just took it off and said, “I’m not wearing that”, because we have a particular type of head cradle inside the mask.’

Luckily she did go on and we got to hear her incredible vocals, even if it was only for one week.

After this came Pointless host and ClassicFM radio DJ Alexander Armstrong, unmasked from underneath Chicken Caeser.

Following the food-themed costume came dancing queen and Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas, having charmed viewers as Rat.

Absolutely Fabulous actress Julia Sawalha was the fourth star unmasked – in front of her former co-star and on-screen mother, guest judge Jennifer Saunders!

The moving reunion had fans jaws on the floor as Julia said: ‘I wanted to do something that would really take me out of my comfort zone. 

‘I like to do jobs that actually I’m really terrified of because then they’re a big challenge. This lived up to that!’
