The daughter of Dwayne Johnson has responded to vile death threats over her famous dad’s WWE comeback.

New NXT General Manager Ava, whose father is wrestling legend and Hollywood megastar The Rock, has been subject to disgusting abuse in the days after his SmackDown return which set up a potential WrestleMania 40 match.

‘Can ya’ll just leave me out of this ffs i’m busy running a SHOW,’ she wrote, referencing her on-screen role as GM.

She added: ‘Death threats over a situation i have nothing to do with … bffr (sic)’

Over the weekend, fans have been slamming the apparent decision to have Cody Rhodes step aside and leave the door open for The Rock to face Roman Reigns at the huge event in April.

Despite Dwayne’s enduring popularity, fans have become incredibly invested in the American Nightmare’s journey and they’re desperate to see him ‘finish the story’ by dethroning Roman to become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

The idea that might not happen has resulting in fierce backlash, with #WeWantCody being the number one trend on X in the US for much of the weekend.

The Rock himself has received abuse on several social media posts, and now his daughter has been dragged into the situation despite no connection to the drama.

‘Told you they are toxic,’ wrote WWE superstar Ricochet in response to someone sharing a screenshot of Ava’s tweets, while fans have also condemned the actions of those sending threats.

‘Y’all make it embarrassing to be wrestling fans sometimes,’ said X user @kendallprinxe, as fan @AdamGoldberg28 added: ‘I’m all for the Cody support but man why it gotta come down to this?’

Despite huge cheers for Dwayne on Friday night, the YouTube clip of his comeback is the most disliked clip ever on WWE’s YouTube channel with hundreds of thousands dislikes, and plenty of fans believe Cody has been hard done by.

They voiced their disappointment at an untelevised WWE event over the weekend, and there are reports that this continued during Sunday’s NXT Vengeance Day event.

On Thursday, WWE is holding a media and fan event with Roman and The Rock set to go face to face, while the likes of Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair and WWE chief content officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque will be in attendance.

All eyes will be on the press conference, with fans wondering what twists and turns are still to come on the road to WrestleMania.
