The shopper then spotted cargo trousers and was not impressed with the price.
She added: “Or cargo pants – £20?”
She then questioned: “I thought I was in Primark…what’s happened?!”
But this woman wasn’t the only one left shocked at Primark’s prices – as others described it ‘madness’.
The savvy shopper later claimed: “But sadly the quality is not good.”
Not only this, but she also wrote: “I spent £50 on tights, pjs, slippers and leggings.”
Many social media users were equally as confused by the chain’s prices and were eager to express this in the comments.
One person said: “Actually madness.”
Another added: “Primark has just becomenow.”
Meanwhile, someone else claimed: “They are going to price themselves out.
“I only go in for the absolute basics now and get better quality clothes elsewhere.”
Not only this, but another shopper expressed: “I stopped shopping in Primark for this reason!
“Used to be able to spend £20 and walk out with a bag full of clothes.”
To this, the mother responded: “No chance these days.”
One shopper even wrote: “That’s why everyone does their shopping online now.”
In agreement, the bargain hunter replied: “Yep, death of the high street.”
Whilst another savvy shopper shared: “Shein has become my new Primark.”
Despite this, one Primark fan claimed: “I shop at Primark, I find the sale rail that’s pretty cheap.”
A Primark spokesperson told Fabulous: “We work hard to offer the best value on the high street, something we know is more important than ever to our customers right now.
“From our everyday essentials, through to our Edit range whichmore premium fabrics and detailed designs, we are committed to offering great value across everything we sell.”
Meanwhile, some Primark fans have been comparing it’s home range to that of H&M.
From floral pillows and bedding to candle sticks and mirrors, the new Spring collection will spruce up any home, and prices start from just a few pounds.
One happy shopper said: “It’s like H&M but cheaper.”
A second agreed: “Love it, found so many beautiful things there.”
How Primark keeps prices low…
Without compromising on ethics
Primark is “proud of its low prices”.
The high street retail giant said: “No matter what your budget, we have a great range of fashion and home accessories at affordable prices.
“Often we are asked how we can combine low prices with good standards in the supply chain. There’s no secret. Our business is based on doing a few things differently to other brands, which is how we keep prices low:
We sell a lot of items. This means we’re able to make savings from buying in bulk for all our stores.
We do very little advertising.
We design clothes that offer the latest trend but we don’t use expensive hangers, tags or labels.
We also try to be as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores. This includes things like asking suppliers to pack our t-shirts so they are ready to go straight on shelf.
“These decisions mean we make savings at every stage of our supply chain. It’s how we keep prices low. But, the standards we expect are high.”
