A crew member has died while working on the set of a new Marvel TV show.

The upcoming series, Wonder Man, is currently in production at Radford Studio Center – previously known as CBS Radford – in California.

Multiple US outlets have confirmed that a rigger fell off the rafters earlier today and has since died from their injuries.

A Marvel spokesperson confirmed the news to Deadline in a statement, which read: ‘Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.’

Variety also reports that filming was not occurring at the time, and production has been halted.

It is unclear what led to their death.

The series, based on the popular comics, was first announced in 2022 (Picture: Marvel)

The staff member’s identity, age and cause of death have not yet been shared.

Wonder Man was announced in June, 2022, with filming starting at the beginning of last year.

The comic book character, named Simon Williams, made his debut in The Avengers #9 in 1964, and is the son of industrialist Sanford Williams.

He took over the business after his father’s death, but found himself in competition with Tony Stark’s Stark Industries.

Ben Kingsley is said to be reprising his role as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 (Picture: Marvel)

Simon gained ion-based superpowers, including extraordinary strength, and initially served as an enemy to the Avengers, before becoming an important part of the team.

While little else is known about the series, and when it could air, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II took on the titular role, while Ben Kingsley will be reprising his role as Trevor Slattery following his stint in Iron Man 3.

Wonder Man production was previously paused due to the WGA and Sag-Aftra strikes, with a premiere date to be confirmed.
