Amanda Holden may have found herself in a bit of hot water after breaking one of the biggest rules on Britain’s Got Talent.

Despite the judges, which also include Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, previously being told they should only press their golden buzzers once, Amanda seems to have got a bit too excited at a recent audition.

Amanda, 52, was reported to be so impressed by a comedy act at the Manchester audition that she hit her golden buzzer and sent him straight through to the semi-finals.

However, she had already done the same thing for a musical theatre singer at a previous audition.

The second act she sent through was a Japanese man who did impressions using his hair.

As reported by The Sun, the usual rules surrounding the golden buzzer seem to have gone out the window this season, with Simon, Amanda and Bruno sending three of the first 20 acts they saw this season through to the live shows.

Historically the golden buzzer, which was introduced to the long-running talent series in 2014, had been saved for the most impressive acts, with each judge only being allowed to press it once.

However, as a source told the publication, this time around the judges have been happy to bend the rules a little.

‘Bruno was almost moved to tears watching his golden buzzer dance act – and was first to slam down on the button so hard that it cracked.

‘He was shortly followed by Simon, who sent a Japanese dance act through to the live shows.

‘And finally, Amanda was impressed by a female theatre singer that she was keen to give a shot in the live rounds and was last to press the buzzer,’ they added.

However, it seems like BGT bosses are now happy for the buzzers to be used more often, with Simon telling the crowd at the London audition that this year there was only one rule: ‘Be as naughty as you want.’

When joining the series last year Bruno admitted he was obsessed with the golden buzzer however had a faux pas on his very first day when pressing it.

Speaking on The One Show, Bruno said there was an ‘amazing’ dance troupe in the first round of auditions that were ‘so incredible’ that he just ‘couldn’t wait’ to hit the buzzer.

‘I literally went for it, and it was mid-performance,’ he said, giggling. ‘I had no idea that the whole stage would explode with gold and there was this, kind of, gasp, I said, “What’s going on here? Have I done something wrong?”’

He added that the kids ‘carried on’ and it made for a great performance, adding he learnt his lesson to ‘wait until the end of the performance’.

Britain’s Got Talent will air on ITV later this year.
