I was dress-coded at the supermarket & KICKED OUT for ‘showing too much skin’ – but video proves the guard hadn’t a clue

A WOMAN was rudely kicked out of a supermarket after security claimed she was “showing too much skin”.

The shocking ordeal was caught on camera with the guard even calling her a “smart a***” when the woman pointed out that several others were wearing the same clothes as her.

Madison Green, 20, was out doing her weekly shop for her grandmother at the popular Dalby Shoppingworld in Queensland, Australia when she was asked to leave by a security guard.

Green claimed the guard followed her around her the shop and threatened to give her a lifetime ban from the centre all because of her outfit.

The young woman was wearing blue shorts and a black crop top – something the security guard thought showed too much skin for her to be allowed to shop.

The bizarre decision from the guard prompted Green to take out her phone and start filming.

In the clip, the guard can be heard saying anyone in the shopping centre must be wearing a “shirt that covers your whole stomach”.

When asked by Green why this was a rule, she was told because “that’s the law“.

Of course there isn’t actually a law preventing anyone from wearing a crop top when they shop.

The security guard can then be heard reiterating her point saying: “I can see your stomach.”

Before Green asks: “But how come there’s a store in here that sells clothing like this but I can’t wear it in here?”

I’m a woman and I know for a fact I’m allowed to wear these things. It’s 2024, I don’t see any issue with it whatsoever

Green told 9News she felt “intimidated” and “annoyed” by the guard’s actions as they continued to follow her round the supermarket.

Before continuing: “I’m a woman and I know for a fact I’m allowed to wear these things.

“It’s 2024, I don’t see any issue with it whatsoever.”

As the argument continues, Green notices a woman wearing a sports top that shows just as much skin as her crop top does walking behind the security.

This prompts her to ask: “So I can’t wear a top but this lady can?”

Clearly annoying the security at this point with her very valid question, Green gets hit with a harsh answer.

The security guard says: “I saw her after I saw you and you’re a smart a*** so now you can leave.”

Once finally allowed to continue on her day by the guard, Green spoke with the shopping centre’s management about how unfair she felt she was treated.

Dalby Shoppingworld spokesperson

This prompted Dalby Shoppingworld to apologise to the woman and ensured shoppers that the security woman on duty will never return to the shopping centre again.

A spokesperson also confirmed that Green was not breaking any rules with her outfit.

They told 9News: “Centre management has apologised to the patron and has been in discussion with the contracted security company and requested that they review their procedures to make sure their staff have appropriate training.

“This particular security officer involved won’t be assigned to Dalby Shoppingworld in future.”

Another woman was made to cover up because she was showing an “offensive” bit of skin while on her vacation despite her wearing a normal pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

Travel enthusiast Ariana shared how she was dress-coded while taking in the sights on a trip to Italy because her knees were showing.

Also landing herself in hot water was an accounting assistant who was dress-coded at work for attire that she felt was perfectly appropriate.

TikTok user Anna Romanova thought she had picked a cute outfit for the office one day – but the HR department disagreed.

Her black leather mini skirt was tight enough to show off her small waist and her curves – she paired it with sheer black tights and stilettos that flattered her legs.

And on top, Anna’s silk, teal button-down was left almost entirely open so that you could see her cleavage.
