Question Time viewers have demanded more Paddy McGuinness after he wiped the floor with a Tory MP.

The former Top Gear presenter, 50, appeared on tonight’s BBC show alongside James Daly, the new Tory deputy chair, as well as the likes shadow secretary of state for health and social care, Wes Streeting.

Steered by presenter Fiona Bruce, 59, the panel discussed wide-ranging topics from NHS funding to the dental care crisis in the UK.

As he began talking about the failed Brexit promise to boost NHS funds by an additional £350million per week, Paddy said: ‘Lucky for me, most people know I’m not here for my great political brain. But that didn’t stop Boris Johnson, so that’s alright.

‘For me, James, you saying to Wes that Sir Keir Starmer is doing anything to get a vote is a bit rich coming from a Tory, let me tell you.

‘We’re still waiting on the £350million a week Boris Johnson promised us for the NHS.’

After Daly protested that sum has been poured into the NHS, an aghast Paddy remarked: ‘Well where is it? Why is the NHS on its knees if it’s here?’

Paddy continued to press: ‘Why are they going on strike, nurses and doctors, if it’s here? Where is it?’

Later on during the show, an audience member asked if it would be necessary to invest in a pair of pliers to carry out emergency dental work due to the growing difficulty of registering as an NHS dentist patient.

When it was mentioned people had to resort to pulling their own teeth out with pliers, Paddy remarked: ‘Funnily enough my dad did that.’

A shocked Fiona, gasped: ‘What?

Paddy explained: ‘He took his own teeth out because he couldn’t get a dentist appointment. This is a few years back, so I know that firsthand. ‘

The former Take Me Out Presenter quipped: ‘But as someone as a child who was terrified of going to the dentist I’ve got to congratulate the government for getting people queuing up. People can’t wait to get into the dentists now.

Tony Chalcroft: ‘Paddy McGuinness seems better informed than the other panel members while James Daly visibly shrinks when the camera points in his direction. #bbcqt.’

Agreeing with Tony, Sue added: ‘#bbcqt Can Paddy be on every week please?”

Louise Scot said: ‘Who knew Paddy was this good with politics? Like him even more.’

Question Time continues on BBC iPlayer at 8pm and BBC One at 10.40pm on Thursday.
