Chef Tom Kerridge is being roasted for his new fat-laden burger in collaboration with a diabetes charity and former rugby player Will Carling.

The Grand Slam Double Decker burger boasts two beef patties as the name suggests as well as gherkins, cheese, and bacon, topped off with a fried egg perched on top of the brioche bun.

It’s currently on sale at The Butcher’s Tap and Grill in Marlow, Buckinghamshire for the Six Nations tournament, retailing for £18.50.

For each burger purchased, chips not included, £1 will be given to JDRF UK, a charity which funds medical research to treat, prevent, and cure Type 1 Diabetes.

If you want to add sides to this mammoth burger, chips and onion rings can be bought for £7 and £5.50 respectively.

Fans have questioned why Tom, 50, and Will, 58, have teamed up to promote this carbohydrate-filled food while trying to raise awareness for diabetes.

‘A diabetes charity and you’re eating that???!?’ follower Ben Stiff commented on the Instagram announcement.

‘Had to laugh when Will said what the charity was though 😂,’ Steve Snow slammed while Sally Hook added: ‘Not for those with type 1 diabetes maybe ?…🤣’

‘Get this massive burger down you for a type 1 diabetes charity!’ a user going by jamiecooks joked.

Promoting the burger, Tom said: ‘I’m sat next to England legend Will Carling, This is the Grand Slam Double Decker.’

He listed off the ingredients – which also include mayonnaise and ketchup – as they tucked into the burger, with the egg yolk breaking and making for a very messy meal.

As they discussed who would win the Six Nations, Will added: ‘It would be great if anyone is kind enough to buy one of these and the proceeds will go there which will be lovely.’

Even the two men couldn’t eat much of the burgers, with the chef picking at his plate after the stacked meal collapsed as the rugby legend opted to pick up the top quarter to eat.
