TV royalty Alison Hammond has landed a huge new role… all about TV itself.

The This Morning host will be on our screens even more than usual, starring on new comedy quiz show Rob Beckett’s Smart TV.

Alison, 48, and comedian Josh Widdicombe will be joining host Rob as team captains on the weekly programme which will see ‘big-name actors, comics, presenters and personalities battle it out in a series of chaotic, trivia-infused rounds to discover who knows the most about TV.’

A teaser for the upcoming series has already seen Alison bringing the chaotic moments we knew she would, including using a Gladiators-style prop, while it features guests like Jamie Laing, Richard Ayoade and David Tennant.

Her new career move comes after Alison was reportedly ‘gutted’ to be dropped from her Baftas hosting gig, and her BBC reality programme was ‘axed’.

Over recent months, the Big Brother star has become more of a familiar face on our screens after stepping in for first Phillip Schofield after he quit over his ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair, and then Holly Willoughby following her departure, on This Morning.

She’s also made her debut presenting the Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding, having taken over for Matt Lucas.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Alison was also revealed to be taking over for the late Paul O’Grady on For The Love Of Dogs.

However, she’s also suffered a few blows, including the reported axing of BBC’s I Can See You Voice, on which she was a judge, and it was said a reality programme she was hosting on the BBC had reportedly been cancelled even before it even began.

A dancing series, promising ‘a similar energy to Strictly’, was reportedly dropped by the broadcaster, after a pilot was filmed.

A source claimed the decision was ‘gutting’ for Alison as working as a presenter on the BBC is seen as the ‘ultimate goal’ and the holy grail for broadcasters.

They told The Sun: ‘This will be gutting for Alison, as getting an ongoing gig on the Beeb is seen as many a presenter’s ultimate goal.

This comes after reports Alison’s BBC programme was ‘axed’ (Picture: Ken McKay/ITV/Shutterstock)

‘There were high hopes for Clear The Dancefloor as it seemed to tap into the same energy as Strictly, which she appeared on in 2014.

‘But she won’t be short of work this year anyway.’

And that couldn’t be any clearer, as Alison is now heading over to the Sky Max programme, which launches in just weeks.

Talking about Smart TV, she said: ‘This will be my first time working with Sky so I’m thrilled to be finally joining the family.

‘We all know that I love a bit of telly – when I’m not actually on it, I’m watching it – so I’m going to apply everything I know and have learned over the years and go for the win. Watch out Josh babs!’

Rob Beckett’s Smart TV launches February 28 on Sky Max.
