Spider-Man’s Doctor Octopus, He-Man, and One Piece characters are on the way to Fortnite, according to a new leak.

It sounds like Fortnite has some major new collaborations on the horizon, if a new rumour is anything to go by.

Epic Games’ third person shooter, which has recently expanded with racing, rhythm and Lego modes, has become synonymous with character skin crossovers – with recent additions including the likes of Solid Snake and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The next rumoured inclusions, however, span anime, superheroes, and gaming classics, headlined by a collaboration with One Piece.

According to Nick Baker on the Xbox Era podcast, who correctly predicted the crossover with James Cameron’s Avatar, a source gave him a ‘mother load’ list of upcoming Fortnite collaborations.

Along with One Piece, others on this list include Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man; He-Man and Skeletor; DC characters Peacemaker and Robin; X-Men’s Magneto, Colossus, and Cyclops; The Fantastic Four; and a collaboration with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

The Marvel characters certainly seem likely considering Epic’s announced partnership with Disney on an ‘entertainment universe’. The two companies have collaborated many times in the past too, with Star Wars and other crossovers around Marvel’s Avengers.

As noted on the podcast, Apex Legends had a crossover with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth last month – so it seems possible that Square Enix would look into further cross promotion to coincide with Rebirth’s launch on February 29.

While there’s no indication of when these crossovers could happen, there’s been little logic in the timing of Fortnite’s past crossovers. The launch of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for example, came six months after the last movie was released.

It’s important to note that none of these collaborations have been confirmed by Epic Games, but most additions to Fortnite leak ahead of time, thanks to datamining, and it’s only last minute licensing problems that ever prevent them from happening.

You can, however, scrub Doctor Who off from the collaboration list, at least for the near future. The current showrunner, Russell T. Davies, denounced the rumours as a ‘complete myth’ in response to a fan on Instagram.

The rumours of a Doctor Who crossover with Fortnite stem back to April last year, to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary, but that never materialised.

Although there was datamined information to suggest something was planned, most rumours suggest it was only intended for Creative mode. Which makes sense as The Doctor hates guns and seems wholly inappropriate for a battle royale.
