I got married in a £46 Zara dress – I was so nervous and cried like a baby… but it was the perfect day

A MUM was left “crying like a baby” after having a quiet intimate wedding with just her husband and two guests.

Joanne, who was wearing a white £46 Zara dress, did the legal ceremony in the UK with her husband Adam.

They did the intimate ceremony in the UK before heading to Ibiza for much bigger wedding celebrations with friends and family.

The parents had two witnesses with them and they were two family members that couldn’t make it on the day in Ibiza.

Joanne, who goes by the name of petitesideoftyle on TikTok, shared a video of her special day on her social media page – and it has since gone viral.

She says: “It was such a small and intimate room and I really had not given much thought about this day

“I ended up crying throughout the whole thing, practically, and I just wasn’t expecting that at all.”

After the legal ceremony, the pair then went back to Adam’s parents house where they had some champagne and cake which was made by their niece.

Joanne continues: “We got so lucky on this day, as it had rained all day and then half an hour before we left the house the sun came out – and we were so happy.”

Adam then book a The Cave Hotel, which isn’t far from them and the pair spent the night there without their kids.

She says: “It was also really nice to do something without the kids, go for dinner just the two of us and spend some time together, just the two of us, before our two weeks away with the kids.

“We also had dinner at The Cave in a restaurant called The Fire Pit and it was delicious, their creamy mash was amazing then when we went back to the hotel room

“The hotel put petals all over the bed all over the floor, they put balloons up for us and even left us a bottle of something, it was so romantic.

“The next morning I woke up as a wife and it was time to get straight back to the kids.”

This ceremony was the start of their two weeks worth of wedding celebrations as the pair then head off to Ibiza for their second wedding with more guests.

Joanne says: “So lovely and it was just the perfect end to the start of an amazing two weeks.”

Joanne wore an all white summer dress for her wedding outfit which cost £45.99 and is from Zara.

It is satin and comes in a variety of different colours, from purple, to pink and light green.

The maxi dress has become a viral sensation all across TikTok, with Zara bringing out a new colour every year.

Joannes’ video attracted lots of attention with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

Why now’s the time to buy your high street wedding dress?

By The Sun’s fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend

The average cost of a wedding dress, according to wedding planning and guide website Hitched, is now £1,350.
That’s just £600 less than the UK average monthly salary.
The frock, the venue, the food, the flowers – everything involving a wedding has a huge price tag attached to it, so if you can avoid spending over £1,000 on a dress you’ll only, hopefully, wear once then do.
High street bridal ranges are seasonal and usually drop in store and online around March, but if you want to get a bargain, now is the perfect time to get yours.
As most of us are still in knitwear, boots and thick coats and the weather isn’t showing signs of warming up, the high street is only giving us “new” clothes that fit the temperature.
But hidden away online under sale or at the back of the sale rails in shops are discounted white frocks that are associated with summer.
In many cases there are loads of sizes still available and huge discounts on mini and maxi white dresses that are perfect for walking down the aisle.
Brands want to shift items that aren’t in sync with the weather and make space for newer items, making now the perfect time to buy your wedding dress

Joanne replied: “It didn’t take away from it at all, the only thing I do wish I had done differently was not shared it on Instagram before the ibiza wedding.”

Another added: “Awww congratulations love this I will be doing this in July 2024 as we are going to France to get married so nice to see how you spent the day.”

A third said: “That’s because the “getting married” bit means more to you than the celebrations. Congratulations.”

Joanne replied: “That is so true and that’s what I realised.”
