Linda Robson’s love for FitFlops is unparalleled, but her commitment to the footwear caused friction at Loose Women.

The 65-year-old claims that the ITV daytime show previously asked her to wear high-heeled shoes. And let’s just say, Linda was not having it.

She prioritises comfort over all else and gave quite a spirited reply to the broadcaster’s request.

‘I told them to “Go f**k themselves”,’ she told Metro.co.uk at the TV Choice Awards 2024.

‘I cannot wear high-heeled shoes.’ I think they certainly got the message.

To hammer home how much she dislikes impractical footwear Linda added that she was recently forced to wear them on a photo shoot, and required special assistance.

‘I had to have two people carry me into the room because they were big clodhoppers,’ she recalled. We think Linda deserves to be carried into every room anyway!

While some people opt for stilettos on red carpets, ‘Nanny Linda’ beats to the tune of her own drum, or walks to the tune of her own flip-flop. She arrived at The Hilton on Park Lane in her trusty flats, and we don’t blame her!

‘I’ve got corns on my toes. I’ve put plasters on because I can’t wear boots tonight. They’ve killed me so I thought “No, I’m getting my FitFlops out”,’ she explained.

If FitFlop are looking for a new celebrity ambassador for their shoes which are priced at around £50, then they really should look no further as Linda has been giving free promotion for years.

Linda and her FitFlops have had a longer committed relationship than we’ve ever had. Back in 2015, she simply tweeted: ‘Love fit flops there the best.’

When Linda does venture into heels, she often ends up removing them and going barefoot. She truly is a woman after our own heart.

While speaking to us on the red carpet, Linda also spoke about an unwanted gift from Denise Welch – not a pair of Jimmy Choos, but a sex toy!

The 65-year-old purchased Linda’s first vibrator and gifted it to her ITV colleague with no pre-warning. The present, which arrived in Linda’s dressing room was as a result of her admission that she’d never owned one.

After receiving ‘the big pink thing’, Linda was given strict instructions to insert some batteries but decided against it.

‘I couldn’t take it. I thought: “What if my granddaughters find it? How am I going to explain it to them?” So I gave it to one of my son’s friends,’ she explained. Although, of course, there is no shame in female pleasure!

The Birds Of A Feather actress doesn’t have much interest in ‘jiggy jiggy’ right now after announcing her split from husband-of-33-years Mark Dunford, the father of her two children – Louis and Roberta. She also has a daughter Lauren from a previous relationship.

‘I’m happy with my grandchildren, my kids and I’m looking forward to going away for a few days around work,’ she insisted.

Linda’s decision to abstain from sex weirdly comes in useful at work, as she uses it to calm down Loose Women guests who are feeling a bit nervous: ‘I’ll go into their dressing room and usually say “I haven’t had sex for six months, will you have sex with me?” and that breaks the ice.’

While Linda is the picture of contentment now, she’s open about her previous struggles – the TV star suffered from depression and anxiety four years ago.

‘I was in the Priory and two other places. I was on suicide watch. I was so bad. It’s taken me a long time. I feel bad for what I put my family through as I’ve always been the strong one,’ she told us.

Her upcoming memoir, Truth Be Told: Tales from a Baggy Mouth out on February 15, will go into detail about the difficult time in her life.
