Kate Garraway is looking ahead to a tough future on Good Morning Britain without her friend Ben Shephard.
The 56-year-old star joked it’s a ‘worry’ wondering how she’ll cope on the ITV breakfast show with her pal and co-star moving on after 10 years to join Cat Deeley as the new hosts of This Morning.
At the end of Friday’s episode – his final one before moving to the studio next door in March – Kate was asked about the future without Ben by her side.
‘I think it’s a worry,’ she laughed, before admitting she was close to tears as she paid tribute to her fellow presenter.
‘I don’t want to say too much because you will make my cry,’ she said.
‘You’re an incredible person, an incredible friend, you’re an incredible broadcaster, and anyone who works with you loves you. I’m gonna miss you. I won’t say any more – but we know that you’re gonna be fantastic.’

In his closing speech, Ben paid tribute to everyone involved in the show, while pointing out he never got used to the 3.30am wakeups.
‘It’s not lost on me that I wouldn’t be able to do it if you lot weren’t amazing,’ he added. The extended family here at GMB, it’s not just us, the team behind the cameras, thank you. Thank you to the viewers as well for trusting me.’
He said: ‘I can only cope with this because I know i’m not going far.’

Announcing his GMB departure earlier this month, Ben shared a picture alongside his co-stars, and reflected on the past decade.
He wrote in his caption: ‘Ten years has flown by at GMB. I’ve loved every minute, (well not those minutes immediately after the alarm goes off at 3.30am 😳😩) but all the others have been incredible.
‘As have these amazing women I’ve been lucky enough to sit alongside, work with, laugh with and on the odd occasions drink with!’

He added: ‘I will miss working with them and the whole team – and I’m very grateful that they are just next door so that whenever I get nostalgic I know they aren’t too far away.’
Kate, who hadn’t posted on Instagram since confirming her husband Derek Draper’s death last month, was among those to wish him all the best as she returned to social media.
She wrote: ‘Massive congrats to @benshephardofficial on the @itv @thismorning gig. You’ll be SOOOOO missed by EVERYONE @gmb viewers and the team alike & ofcourse especially me.

‘BUT after 24 years hard labour by my side no one will begrudge you time off for good behaviour!!! Good luck swapping early starts for (abit) of a lie in and a Kate for a Cat! @catdeeley can’t wait to see you – you’ll have a ball 💕’
During Friday’s episode, the likes of Dr Hilary, Laura Tobin, West Ham legend Mark Noble, Chris Kamara and more send in videos to pay tribute to Ben on his last day.
Kammy said: ‘I wish you good luck with This Morning, they have got themselves a diamond, that’s for sure.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
