I’m still shook at the designer jewelry I got for $24 at the thrift store – people point to a sign it’s authentic

A THRIFT store fan has given her latest find a great bit tick.

She scored big time with a piece of designer jewelry.

TikTok user Sophie scored some amazing finds on her thrift haultiktok/@sophieee.327

She found a Gucci watch for $24tiktok/@sophieee.327

She still feels shook after spotting it hiding among other less precious timepieces.

It could be authentic and people have pointed to a sign she needs to look out for.

Sophie (@sophieee.327) has a good eye for thrift magic.

It stood her in good stead on this thrift haul because she only forked out $24 for the watch.

But the signs are looking good and it could be worth a whole lot more.

Sophie’s thrift spree started with some mild surprises.

She always likes to check the leather section.

“I always find so many Danier coats,” she said trying a few on.

“This one is gorgeous but I have a similar one at home,” she said.

But the star of the show was about to make an appearance.

“I just posted yesterday a bunch of Gucci watches I had my eye on,” she wrote.

“And look at what I just found. Are you joking with me?” she said.

It was a silver lady’s watch with the iconic branding of Gucci on the face.

On the back, there was more Gucci signs.

“It’s $24 first of all and I got home and looked at the back and I think it’s real based on what I’ve read on the internet,” she said.

One commenter had some advice for her.

“This stamp is real. A good way to tell is it should have the tiniest “SWISS” underneath the 6 on the face,” she said.

There was further guidance for authenticating her find from watch specialists, Uniform Wares.

“Being such a desirable brand means lots of people aspire to own some of Gucci’s products,” they said.

“That’s why fakes are so commonplace, but like all good luxury brands, there are signs to look for to ensure you have a genuine article,” they added.

Uniform Wares said to look out for these signs:

Look at the back of the case. You should see the watch’s serial number but if all you can see is ‘Gucci’ then you’ve got a fake

Check for the ‘Swiss-made’ banner that appears below the 6 o’clock position. Again, if this is not present then you’re looking at a replica

The watch hands are another giveaway when spotting a genuine Gucci watch. Gucci powers its watches with a Swiss quartz movement, which produces smooth-moving watch hands

If you notice the hands ticking rather than smoothly moving around the dial it’s likely that a cheap mechanism is being used. This is, once again, a sign of a replica

Every Gucci watch is sold with an authenticity certificate, which features a serial number. You can check this serial number with Gucci to confirm that the watch in question is genuine

But Sophie was still in love with her timepiece, regardless if it was the real deal or not.

“It’s also $24 so who cares. Still shook I found this watch,” she said.
