This Morning star Sian Welby has announced she’s pregnant with her first child.

The Capital FM host broke the news live on-air on Wednesday’s programme that she and fiancé Jake Beckett are set to welcome a new arrival.

She said: ‘I’ve got a bit of an announcement for you! I’m pregnant!

‘I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it from you for so long.

‘It’s not a joke, it’s not a joke!’

As her co-stars including Roman Kemp jumped up in surprise and rushed to hug her, she went on: ‘The lies, the deceit, the mocktails!

‘The stress I’ve gone through trying to pretend not to be drinking.’

She added: ‘I couldn’t wait to tell you.

‘This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all on it with me, and don’t worry I’m not going anywhere!

‘This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.’

She also shared a selection of sweet pictures on social media, including her partner kissing her baby bump, ultrasounds and a pregnancy test.

Fans and friends rushed to congratulate her, including the likes of comedian Leigh Francis and BBC broadcaster Sonali Shah.

Sian, 37, made her debut hosting This Morning alongside Dermot O’Leary last month.

‘This is so weird, it’s great,’ she told viewers, as she was tipped as Holly Willoughby’s replacement before Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were confirmed as the new hosts.

The radio personality, who made regular appearances on the ITV programme as a showbiz reporter, has previously worked with the BBC and Channel 4.

She announced in July last year that she and her boyfriend Jake had become engaged.

Sharing a post on Instagram, she revealed that she had initially thought that they were simply going on a boat trip… but Jake had a secret up his sleeve as he was getting ready to pop the question.

Uploading a photo of herself showcasing her new diamond engagement ring while sitting with her beau, she wrote in the caption: ‘On Tuesday I thought we were just going on a boat trip!! 🥹

‘Genuinely didn’t see this coming. For once I am totally speechless. I didn’t think it mattered until he asked me, and then suddenly it meant everything 💙 Love you Jakey x 15.8.23.’

Jake is a creative producer at Heart Breakfast, a role that he’s had since February 2023, having worked at Global since 2019.
