Dave Myers appeared on screens just days before his death aged 66, and made a heartbreaking declaration.
His TV partner and The Hairy Bikers co-star Si King announced on Thursday that Myers had died, two years after he was diagnosed with cancer.
King said he would miss Myers ‘every day’, as well as ‘the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime’.
He wrote: ‘Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment.
‘My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.
‘I wish you God’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.’
Myers had been sharing his health battles with fans over recent months, and was starring in their first Hairy Bikers series since his diagnosis, with the latest episode airing just days ago.

Last year, Myers announced he would return to Hairy Bikers with King, describing it as a ‘huge step back to normality’.
The Hairy Bikers Go West landed on BBC Two on February 6, followed by seven weekly episodes, the most recent of which aired on Tuesday.
In their penultimate episode, King said: ‘We didn’t think 18 months ago we’d be on the bikes again and wandering around Dave’s backyard, and it’s wonderful that we are.’
Myers added: ‘It’s been glorious and the motorcycling has been glorious, what can I say, it just feels so good to be alive.’
In the most recent episode which aired on Tuesday, the pair recalled their ‘fond childhood memories’, as they explored Merseyside.

Myers spoke about a childhood holiday he had in Liverpool, where he was left ‘humiliated’ at school after mistaking the ferry for a ‘cruise’.
He recalled: ‘I was always pretentious, I put [in my school diary] “So mam and dad took me on a cruise”. I said we went to New Brighton and everybody burst out laughing, I was really humiliated. Because I thought the New Brighton ferry was a cruise!’
He finished the episode talking about the future of Merseyside being ‘so bright’, while King called it ‘a wonderful trip’.
During filming, Myers got back on his bike for the first time in emotional scenes which had previously aired.

‘I knew I’d got my man back,’ his wife Liliana had previously shared, remembering Myers returning to a bike shop and putting his helmet back on to take his new bike for a spin.
‘It was like a miracle had happened, because it was something we thought he’d never do again. But he does it.’
‘I was jumping for joy, not for any other reason, but to see my best mate doing what he does,’ King added.
The Hairy Bikers Go West airs Tuesdays at 7pm on BBC Two, and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
