I bought a £10 pair of shoes on Vinted but when they arrived they were covered in MOULD – I complained but lost the case

A WOMAN who spent £10 buying a pair of shoes on Vinted was left stunned when they arrived – covered in mould.

She’d been looking forward to the arrival of her black platform sandals after her offer of a tenner was accepted by the buyer.

A woman was left stunned when the £10 pair of shoes she got on Vinted arrived covered in mouldTikTok/@depopdrama

She complained and asked for a refund, but was called a “liar” by the sellerTikTok/@depopdrama

She then sent a picture showing the “absolutely vile” shoesTikTok/@depopdrama

But when she opened them and saw the state of the heels, she messaged the seller immediately.

“The shoes have arrived but they’re covered in mould,” she wrote, in a message shared in a TikTok video on the DM Drama page.

“I want a refund please.”

The seller was unwilling to accept that, and called her a “liar”, before adding: “Send a pic”.

She obliged, and sent a picture of the shoes, which were shockingly covered top to bottom in green mould pores.

“They smell of damp,” she added. “It’s absolutely vile”.

Again unwilling to accept responsibility, the seller then replied to insist that the shoes “don’t look that bed”.

“Probably just got cold in transit – give them a wipe down, they will be fine.”

The buyer then responded: “I’m sorry but I spent £10 on them I don’t expect them to arrive covered in mould and then be expected to wipe them down.

“I’m taking this to Vinted.”

“Take it to Vinted babe, they always side with the seller,” the seller rudely replied.

The buyer then opened a case on the shopping app, only to find that Vinted did, in fact, side with the seller.

“Told you!” the seller then messaged.

“Case closed, enjoy your mouldy shoes”.

She added then added a tongue poking out emoji.

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “This is exactly why Vinted will eventually die.

“Buyers need to be protected too and I’m saying this as someone who primarily sells.”

“The buyer should have been refunded, no argument,”another added.

“Outrageous that Vinted haven’t sided with the buyer.

“eBay is much fairer.

“eBay would refund, deffo.”

“Always use a credit card as back up,”a third suggested.

“If they won’t refund you for something not as described the bank will get refund for you.”

“Disgusting how can vinted see that image and side with seller,” someone else raged.

But others defended Vinted, with one writing: “I’ve never had a problem with them.

“I’ve had some great bargains & have had a refund if I haven’t been happy.”

“I love Vinted,” another agreed.

“Never had any problems that couldn’t be solved.

“It can’t be true as when one buys on Vinted pays buyer protection fee.”

“I’ve always had a good experience with Vinted tbh,” a third commented.

As another said: “I’ve never had a bad experience with Vinted yet.

“Had some lovely items!”

Vinted has been contacted for comment.
