Roxanne Pallett caused outrage across the UK during her stint on Celebrity Big Brother during the infamous ‘punch-gate’ involving Ryan Thomas.

The Emmerdale actress, 41, sparked fury among viewers of the hit reality show in 2018 when she accused the Coronation Street star, 39, of punching her.

Immediately following the incident, Pallett claimed that she was too uncomfortable to be around Thomas and slept in the spare bedroom in the Big Brother house, with Thomas later given a formal warning.

The Dancing On Ice star claimed he meany ‘no malice’ with the punch, but Pallett branded him a ‘liar’ and a ‘woman beater’, choosing to leave the house on Day 17.

The shocking incident garnered a whopping 25,000 viewer complaints to Ofcom and the Lake Placid and Wrong Turn actress faced a huge backlash in the weeks after it aired. Thomas, however, went on to win the 22nd series of CBB.

She later returned to the show for an interview with host Emma Willis, where she apologised to Thomas for the ‘horrible mistake’ and wished to be forgiven for her actions.

The storm was not over, however, with EastEnders star Sam Attwater later claiming that he had a similar experience with Pallett when the pair both appeared in hit stage show The Rocky Horror Show.

He wrote on X at the time: ‘I cannot wait for @bbuk tonight. I’m so glad that Roxanne’s true personality is coming out. She did this to me on Rocky Horror tour. Except she hit me and ran off stage saying I’d hit her!

‘She’s not well and shouldn’t be in there. Anyone who has worked with her knows.’

He later added: ‘I feel incredibly sorry for @ryanjamesthomas that he can’t escape Roxanne. I was lucky enough to avoid her but he’s stuck in a house with her!

‘I’ve seen all these crocodile tears before. Good thing we are too strong to be beaten down. #GetRoxanneOut’

When she entered the CBB house, she was engaged to steelworker Lee Walton whom she met online in 2017 after he contacted her on Instagram.

The pair split six months after Pallett appeared on the show, with a source claiming her personal life had been ‘left in tatters.’

However, just months later she began dating Married At First Sight star Jason Carrion.

The New York Fire Department worker was paired up with Cortney Hendrix in the 2014 season of the show, but the couple filed for divorce in February 2019 after five years together.

Pallett and Carrion met in New York after she fled to the city to lay low after punch-gate, with them tying the knot in January 2020 at the Lutheran Evangelical Church in the city.

She shared a series of pictures from the special day on her Instagram page, paying tribute to her husband as her ‘safest place and biggest adventure.’

‘There’s an old saying that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. Well, it was worth every broken step that got me here and I thank God every moment that out of everyone in the whole world, I was led to you,’ she wrote.

‘You are my safest place and my greatest adventure. Thank you for choosing me. On our wedding day we celebrated our commitment to one another. A day I’ll truly remember as perfect in every way.’

In June 2021, Pallett announced she was pregnant with the couple’s first child, later saying they were set to welcome a baby boy.

Speaking to Jeremy Vine back in 2019, the Jo Stiles actress confessed that she had contemplated suicide in the wake of punch-gate.

Speaking about her growth since appearing on the show, she said: ‘It’s only now that I watch those back that I realise how far I’ve come and what a bad place I was in.

‘I never want be that person again. I never want to react like a situation like that.’

Speaking about the incident last year, Thomas expressed sympathy for Pallett and said that he had forgiven her.

‘You can’t hide from who you really are in a show like that, it’s so weird to say this but I actually feel sorry for her because when you’re in a show like that, and everything’s highlighted and it’s public, it can be quite a lonely place and it can be quite a scary place when you put in that situation, so, we move on,’ he said on Thomas Brothers podcast Mancs on the Mic.

On stepping away from the public eye, she told Closer Magazine: ‘I think taking a step away from showbiz has been the biggest saving grace for me as it’s brought better people into my life and given me a healthier perspective on what’s important.’

Celebrity Big Brother 2024 starts on Monday, March 4 at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
