A singer has ‘officially’ started a ‘feud’ with ITV for editing her bum crack out of its broadcast of the Brit Awards.

The UK’s biggest night in music happened at the weekend, with Raye taking home a record-breaking six awards, Kylie Minogue drinking out of a shoe and host Roman Kemp making a very subtle gag aimed at Red Bull Racing’s Christian Horner.

However, one of the more unexpected moments to come out of the event was sparked by Irish singer CMAT, who was nominated in the international artist of the year category.

Although skin-baring outfits on the red carpet are nothing new, the performer – real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – turned up in a long, black gown with a completely open, feathery-lined back, which was so low it showed off a lot of her bare bum.

Before the ceremony, she gave fans a sneak peek of her outfit, writing: ‘I told you I was good craic.’

But when it came to showing off her unique dress, CMAT’s bum was censored by ITV during the show’s reruns.

As host Clara Amfo was introducing a performance from Rema, the Dublin-born singer shuffled into the back of the shot and turned around to reveal her ‘craic’, however viewers watching on at home were instead met with a pixelated image of her behind.

The day after, CMAT, 28, shared a video posing on the red carpet, with her bum on show before taking aim.

‘I had the most fun ever thank you so much @brits i am so so grateful…and now, for a beef. @itv you will PAY for editing my bum crack out of the broadcast reruns,’ she captioned the post.

‘Give the people what they deserve (my arse) or I will set the CMAT babies on you!

‘Tis a #feud officially.’

She was quickly flooded with support, with Lilly Hensby joking ‘we ride at dawn’.

‘We’re coming for you ITV, lock your doors,’ Ash commented.

‘Free the crack,’ Martin Luke Brown shared.

Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore also said she was ‘obsessed’ with CMAT.

Many others praised the dress, with fans calling it ‘iconic’, ‘their favourite fashion moment ever’ and a ‘historic moment in pop culture’.

After releasing her debut studio album, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, in 2022, its follow-up, Crazymad, was released in October last year, with both going to number one in Ireland.

The Brit Awards 2024 are streaming on ITVX.
